Holy frick balls.

Granted, they have played Florida and Alabama but that’s hard to even believe.

What has been the issue here? Coaching? Talent? Both I’m sure but interested in some thoughts from Rebels fans on this

They don't have any players.

They've also been in the game against both Florida and Alabama for most or all of the game, meaning their defense got a full 40 minutes of those teams first teams instead of some others who got to play our backups for 1+ qtrs.

Solid point.

Still though, I’m not sure what the record is but it can’t be much more than that.

Also seems to be a trend in football in general.

Those 9-6 barn-burners are long gone.

I can’t imagine Florida pulled starters in any game so far.

I wouldn’t consider being down 20 points going into the 4th against Florida “in the game”

Arkansas might be able to do it against Florida!

Ole Miss was a bad call away from being within one score deep in the 4th. You didn’t watch the game did you?

But their Offense didn't have any 3 and outs, which is what causes Ds to give up points so the oppositions second team can play. Ole Miss is very soft on D and really doesn't have any SEC talent on that side of the ball.

I remember when I could name off at least half of Ole Miss' defense back in the Nkemdiche days, now I couldnt tell you the first or last name of anyone with a gun to my head.

They just have a severe lack of talent there now.

The SEC Shorts from yesterday was spot on.

Ole Miss hasn't recruited anybody on defense in three years.

As it stands, they would break the record set by the 2018 UCONN squad by ~20 YPG

UConn set the record in 2018 by averaging 617.4 ypg.
Before that it was 2015 Kansas with 560.8

So yes, Ole Miss is on pace for the NCAA record for most ypg given up.

I have no idea what the SEC record is.

Also, Sports Illustrated already has an article on this as well: Ole Miss defense on pace to be worst in NCAA history

There is a small amount of good news. Ole Miss plays their next three games against the three teams at the bottom of the SEC as far as total offense is concerned: Arkansas, Auburn and Vanderbilt.

Kyle Trask played and threw the ball around the entire game, including their last drive that ended with a TD with 5 minutes left in the 4th.

Ole Miss' defense got Alabama and Florida's starters for 100% of their drives in the 2 games. They're still awful, but they haven't had any drives against good teams where the backups came in and just ran draws to get the game over with.
