Say you guys go 5-7 or 4-8. Luke is fired. New Chancellor and AD in place. Would you be open to Freeze returning?

I wouldn't want him back.

Absofrickinglutely.
There's a portion of our fanbase that says they wouldn't and they point to him losing to Memphis and Arkansas as part of their reasons. It's mind boggling to me.
Still worth it

Almost anyone's better than Luke

Teach him how to use burner phones and he'd be fine. I'm not sure Freeze still has his mojo though. Not just the whole getting fired in disgrace from your dream job but his recent health problems could have really taken the starch out of him.

Not after how badly he fricked our program. Luke more than likely isn't the long term solution and will be let go after this season if we don't make a bowl game, but Freeze didn't leave on a graceful note.

Depends. Will he bring his hospital bed, dentist chair or platform with him to coach from?

No. He couldn’t recruit defensive players and he thought our coordinators last year were good hires.

It would have been really easy to predict how this thread was going to go. Everyone saying no with the exception of Henry Jones falling all over himself screaming “it was worth it,” all the while not defining what “it” was.

No. He would always have the cheater stigma attached to his name if he returned as coach and went into recruits' homes with OM gear on.
Frick Freeze

Should be a resounding no. Freeze himself went 4-8 his last year. There are better coaching options out there with less baggage. Shoot for the pirate.

Extremely valid. Ole Miss pissed away at a chance at the SEC title and the CFP that year.

If the choice is Luke or Freeze in '20: Freeze
If the choice is Freeze or someone new: Someone new.
Hell, just give it to Mac and make sure he hires good assistants.

Absolutely not.
Freeze would’ve been fired already if it wasn’t for off the field situation.

Nah. Been there, done with that.

Not only would they take him back, they would get him the best attorney and endless supply of hookers as part of the contract.

I do wonder who Ole Miss will hire to replace Luke (if they fire Luke they need to completely clean house IMO).
I also wonder who State will seek to replace Moorhead with when he is canned.
I think Freeze back at OM would actually work. Many of the things that tripped him up would likely have to points of emphasis for him not to mess up again.
I also wonder who would be willing to coach OM or State?
I think in both cases, like hiring Freeze and Mullen, you have to take a risk on an unproven commodity.
If I were OM, I’d go after the Memphis HC. If I were State, maybe the UAB HC.
