I had speculated in some recent posts that Clemson had taken advantage of their powder puff schedule and put a lot of time in prepping for Alabama.

Cole Cubelic is verifying it in talking with members of the Clemson staff. He said they put in a month getting ready for Bama and only a week for ND, they had little respect for the Irish and thought they matched up well with them.

Looking at next years's schedule it could be even worse. After the early matchup with the Aggies. they are looking at a 2 and maybe even a 1 game season for the championship after week 3.

The truth's the truth. We had to deal with a rivalry game with the Aubs, then UGA , then Oklahoma before we could worry with them. They do have a built in advantage there.

Doesn't matter if they spent the whole season preparing for Alabama, they still whipped our arse.

Sounds like they have a very competent staff at Clemson.

Clemson is losing a good bit of talent on defense from what I understand. Think next year won't be near as dominant

Who gives a shite? We didn't have to play in a SECCG last year, so we had a built in advantage.

Win the game or lose the game. We lost.

I never said otherwise. But it's something that will have to be taken into account for anyone that plays them next year, because they WILL be in the playoffs sans terrible injury luck and with a massive advantage.

Thats a lotta letters to spell melt.
Especially when midget-boy does the same ratio prepping for LSU every year.

How can it be a melt if it hasn't happened? You boys are still shellshocked. I am looking ahead and I am out for blood LOL

How quickly they forget what we did to them just the previous year. Time to move ahead get back there and do unto them.

I said the same thing about Bama in 2017. At least Clemson played in their Conference Championship Game.

If you want to call what that was a championship game. Check that schedule next year.

It isn't an excuse. It is a reason and an advantage. Not the only one obviously but one that matters.

You have to hope that their biggest win next year is MSU. Because if that is the case like in 2017, the Playoffs will not survive it.

Aug. 31 vs. Duke in Atlanta
Sept. 7 vs. New Mexico State
Sept. 14 at South Carolina
Sept. 21 vs. Southern Miss
Sept. 28 vs. Ole Miss
Oct. 5: Bye
Oct. 12 at Texas A&M
Oct. 19 vs. Tennessee
Oct. 26 vs. Arkansas
Nov. 2: Bye
Nov. 9 vs. LSU
Nov. 16 at Mississippi State
Nov. 23 vs. Western Carolina
Nov. 30 at Auburn

It really is unfair that Clemson has that schedule and Alabama has to go through this gauntlet.

It is an excuse

Right along side "we're not inspired by this game"

So now its Notre Dame again as the reason for Georgia and Alabama poor showings in the bowl games.

Saban has a hard time with a gameplan that he has to install in less than 10 days against a good team.

Another key component to this month of preparation was the distinct fact that they didn't have to prepare for Pittsburgh in the ACC Championship Game. They didn't have to prepare for anyone. Based on the USC game, they didn't spend much time on them either.

Not every team has that luxury. If Oklahoma would have spent the week preparing for Alabama/Clemson over Texas, they would ended up in the Sugar Bowl rather than the CFP.

Clemson found themselves in a unique spot and had the foresight to take advantage of it. That's the mark of a championship caliber program.

Well it's not like Bama had to really prepare a tough schedule. Oklahoma had no defense to prepare for. Bama didn't really play anyone worth preparing for half way through their schedule.

Bama and Tua was just overrated from playing a weak schedule. Especially til mid-season when everyone is trying to compare teams. The Citadel, A&M, and UGA outted Bama's defense and Tua looked average at best against every quality defense he faced.

LSU exposed UGA and UGA was the only complete team Bama played before the playoffs and they scraped by them. They even had to bench Tua for Hurts to beat them.
