67% on day 1. Not bad.

Would you rather have KT in there?

Absolutely not. KT is more talented but has difficulty completing a screen with consistency.

How was ULL in the game? I didn't watch it but obviously the score was closer then I'd assume you guys liked.

Stevens is the guy for the system. KT is a great player but for the system JoMo runs KT isn’t the most ideal QB.

Not that Dak was not great in his last year, because he had some great numbers, but outside of him, this is your best QB ever.

That kid is as smart as he is accurate. I watched a post game interview where he specifically talked about the sack and fumble. I saw a lot of fans blame the OL/RB and it was his fault. He knew it and called it. "I didn't put protection in place because I did not read it pre snap".

He will only get better. Too bad you only got him for a year and that KT will be starting in 2020.

Small details from what I watched. Should have never been that close. The defense had an INT and Stevens did put protection in place... they turned it back over inside their 20ish?

And that happened a couple of times where they should have had points.

I saw 1 dropped pass.... I saw one obvious wrong route ran.

Stevens dropped a dime on the WR for deep pass 30+ plus yards TD. Another fade into the endzone for a high point grab.

Hill ran for 300 yards too. Over all, they kept everything very flavorless though. Not even Vanilla. LOL

I think the major concern will be the growth of their So and Freshmen.

I would say bet.... but that's not me.

He will pull out of it this week. and will be back with the team this week.

AND, I don't think it's not great for your team next year.

"Shorty" McWilliams was our best QB ever.

We got him bc he was married, & few schools would take married players.

My .02¢ since I was at the game.
1. Stevens is as advertised. He was almost flawless running the offense. It’s such a pleasure to not shite yourself every time your QB throws a pass. Dude is mentally tough. His check-downs and reads were great. He didn’t eye frick his receivers.

2. Receivers. We have Zuber and Osiris Mitchell and both are game changers. Austin Williams is great as well. Steven Guidry is inconsistent and that hasn’t changed.

3. Running Backs. Kylin Hill is great but he won’t last the season if he keeps running up the middle. He doesn’t have the size to do that. Rotating Nick Gibson in Hill’s spot needs to happen

4. Suspensions. Hopefully we can come up a plan to make sure we have the players in the games we need them in. We couldn’t stop their run game with the players we had out there Saturday. Their QB looked like a black Johnny Manziel.

5. ULL. Their offensive line dwarfed our D line and their D line dwarfed our offensive line. Those were some big-arse players for ULL. You can blame our lineman woes on fricking Mullen for not recruiting enough offensive linemen.

6. We will go bowling this year and I think with what we lost last year we have to understand this is a rebuilding year. A lot of teams don’t make Bowl games in their rebuilding years so I guess there’s the bright side. It sucks we waisted such a great defense last year on such a shitty QB. It’s going to suck that the QB this year deserves a much deeper team than we can give him. I wish Moorhead would have loaded Stevens up and brought him with him so we could of had two years.

Nope. He made some throws we haven’t seen since Dak was QB. What we need to do is cut out the special teams errors and grow quickly on that DL. The game was at one point 35-14. Should have never ended so close.

Nice take.....

3. Hill is strong enough imo. However, I felt that the sub needed more touches.

4. That QB was very illusive. But to be honest, I believe they averaged as much last year per carry. Those backs and OL are legit.

I thought your punt returner was going to beat the crap out of #20.... That gave ULL a score they would not have had.

Southwest Louisiana came in 00 & 44 Vs. the SEC; lef' out 00 & 45, without a limp.

They gave it they ;-) best shot. We Won, but, left with more than than one limp.

QB play will not be our problem this year.

By the way, KT pulled his name out of the portal and is back with the team.

Shorty McWilliams is the only player in SEC history to be All-SEC for 4 years.

Back to the future err the present...

First, ULL is a solid team. Good QB and RB and a veteran OL, they are going to be a tough out for a lot of teams.

Stevens looked good. We obviously have a lot to work on. Hill looked good at RB but 27 carries as way too many. As some one mentioned we were less flavorful than putrid vanilla. Bland. I think we ran the same one running play (delayed counter) 95% of the time. Defense was porous but I think we will see improvement there. Special teams were a mixed bag. Missed a FG and were very shaky on the made one. Downed two punts inside the one yard line but also had a player touch a punt that created a TO and gave them ball at our 15 yard line.

Final note, While I thought Stevens looked good (I was in the dome) our WR’s are the most improved group on the field by far. So I am excited about that. Offensively, we have a chance to be really good and explosive as well. We will see how things play out going forward.

Told the guy beside us that his presence on the field reminded me every bit of Dak. He is a better passer than Dak. And he can scramble when he needs to. Every time he took off running I cringed though

When Moorhead said that he and Trace McSorley were very close in talent I thought it was coach-speak. I feel like McSorley probably got the nod based on size. After seeing Stevens play I can’t believe he hadn’t started a game since he a senior in HS.
