How does everyone feel about this?
Auburn will be starting a new QB after stidhams departure, which works in Oregons favor IMO. Aub will likely play it close to the vest to limit turnovers and try to play mistake free football.
They will be heavily reliant on Steele and that defense to carry them.
I see Auburn returns much of its production in the trenches on both sides, which does not bode well for the ducks in the slightest.
On the flip side, Oregon does have an explosive offense. Auburns secondary depth leaves some to be desired and it could hurt them in the second half. Oregon QB is a gunslinger.
I'm expecting alot of stalled drives to open the game as Auburn breaks in the new QB and Oregon attempts to break through what should be a near elite defensive line.
Auburn: 34 Oregon: 27

Bo Nix throws for 212 rushes for 78. Goes 16 of 24 with 9 rushes. 3 passing TD's. Kam Martin breaks out onto the National stage by posting a 162 yards, from the LoS, on only 12 touches.
And I liked your score of 34 to 27. This was obviously just for fun, but it'd be cool to see these things happen.
AND, wait...I really thought Nix would start, can any Auburn fans help me out, here? Lol

We're actually pretty stacked at safety and our starters at corner are very experienced and talented

Smart money is on Gatewood to start the opener

Well, I've just become extremely upset.

I wanted to watch Nix play, immediately. I think he has exceptional potential.

quote:They averaged 5.86 yards per snap last year, which was good for 6th place in the PAC-12. They were 8th in the conference in plays of 10 or more yards from scrimmage (although they were tied for first in plays of 20 or more yards).
Oregon does have an explosive offense.
I don't think they're any more explosive than Washington was last year, and we held them to 16 points (1 TD) although they managed right at 400 yards total.
I think the rest of your analysis was pretty good, save for the final score - it'll be closer to last year's 21-16 total. I'll be optimistic and say AU will come out on top

Gatewood will be very fun to watch in our offense, he has great potential as well.
But yeah, Nix probably has more pro potential. It'll be interesting to see how we handle the QB situation going forward

So we are going to give up double our 2018 average? In the first game at a neutral site? Ok

Did you see Stidham play? Either QB will be an improvement.

I see it more like the Washington game. Malzahn will run the ball and run clock. It will be a low scoring game IMO.

I think that it could go either way, but I'll give Oregon the edge because Auburn's QB will be making his first start in a pretty big game.
Oregon 27, Auburn 23
I could definitely see Auburn winning though, and I may change my mind before the game kicks off.

I'll give Gatewood a fair chance, I suppose the coaches would know who fits better. Nix will have his time, I'm sure.

Well, I've seen Gatewood in person multiple times, when he was in high school. If you're excited to Nix play, your jaw will drop when you see Joey.

I blame Stidham, maybe 20%, for the lack of function Auburn's offense had with him. Perfect QB? Nah, but the kid can play. Let's so how he develops at the next level, before we write him off, yeah?

You know who our coaches are, right?
