Think NWA power brokers. Those with an interest in placing Gus where he can't do much damage. Or keeping him where he is?
Think chicken. Not the chicken of Tiger Droppings. Real chicken. Just not the chicken you might think.
Think blackmail. Does Gus have compromising pictures of certain southern oligarchs with a goat?
One of my sources assures me that if Gus puts out a losing record this year, he can forget about a one year extension.
Another of my sources, on the opposite spectrum, says that Gus's OC Morris just needs more time to get his offense installed and get some of his players recruited in. And that makes sense.
And finally, my third source says that Gus is looking for a way out now. He doesn't care about the money. His ego is more important. He's "working the backchannels" for possibly openings at Liberty (if Freeze moves up to an ACC school), Mississippi State if the Leach thing collapses, and even some initial talk with LSU, who's admins have great respect for Gus and would love to talk.
I cannot reveal my powerful Northwest Arkansas sources who know everything in regards to Gus months before any Birmingham or Montgomery media get the first whiff.
Stay strong Auburn - relief could be around the corner - we should know more in the coming days

Leto, one of my sources does confirm that some Aub PTB's concur a new HC who never played college football would fit perfectly with your current OC who never played college football.
Think offensive juggernaut, once the OC's players are in place

Isn't that always his excuse, though? I don't think it does make sense.

Your source obviously is talking out his arse or you are just making shite up. As far as a person goes, you can't say a thing bad about Gus. There is no hint of scandal at Auburn under him. He cuts bad apples loose. He just hasn't adapted and he gets in his own way too much.

Eh, I know some in Arkansas still have some issues with him as a high school coach. Illegal recruiting and similar. I'm sure an Arkansas fan can fill in the blanks.
