*Not a Flame* But can someone tell me why Frank Martin left K State for USCe?

Honestly I've wondered what the deal was too. There were rumors about him leaving there for awhile. I don't really know why he picked a non-basketball school like SC. I would've been happy to have him at arkansas. Seems like he made kind of a lateral move and he was a pretty hot coaching name for awhile.

He and the KSU AD did not like each other. Add into that the fact the AD suspended one of his primary players for their NCAA tournament game for something that was found to be completely legal, he felt it was time for a change.
Plus USCe gave him a significant upgrade in payscale

Rumors were that he was having issues with the administration and was forced out. KState's AD publicly denied rumors but I want to say in his final press conference with KState that it came off as he was being forced out.

I'd always heard it was due to a rift between him & the KSU AD?
Manhattan, KS is a fun little road trip. Wouldn't want to live there; but the folks are friendly & the drinks are plentiful.

Would you want to play second fiddle in the wasteland of Kansas your whole career?

I always thought that part of it was that he coached K-State to four NCAA tourney appearances in five seasons, but they would never be the biggest program in their state.
Bramlage Coliseum opened for the 1988-89 season. Frank Martin's first season at K-State, they beat KU at Bramlage for the first time ever. They were 0-19 against KU in their own building.

I'm sure that played into it to a degree too. I think just the abruptness of it suggests there was a lot more to it. JMO though.

Because Kansas is a shite hole camouflaged with amber waves of grain. Carolina is a nice place.
