They would not except because they would have to play a tough schedule!

I'd be okay with this if the SEC could somehow rope in NBC.

Imagine 2x SEC games on NBC every Saturday (1x ND, 1x SEC GOTW).

frick Disney/ESPN.

Nothing about Notre Dame is Southeastern, or even Southern for that matter.

Hard, hard pass.

I’m not a fan of having schools in a conference that don’t make geographic sense. Give me Oklahoma State, Florida State, Miami, Virginia, Clemson, North Carolina, NC State over ND.

Texas A&M doesn't make sense geographically for the Southeastern Conference.

Texas borders Louisiana who was already in the conference. Missouri borders Arkansas who was already in the conference. Then you add Oklahoma that borders Texas. That all makes geographic sense in terms of expansion. If you add a North Carolina school that makes geographic sense.

By that logic, Kentucky borders Indiana.

States like Texas (east), Oklahoma and Missouri aren’t what I would consider southeastern but are close enough. Notre Dame is damn near in Michigan. Hard pass.

We’re in late stages of power conference consolidation…everything is about gobbling up big brands and trying to cause other conferences to wither out of existence so you can gobble up more big brands. From a strictly realpolitik perspective, SEC should do it before ACC or Big Ten does it.

Texas A&M is a great fit for the SEC. geographically, historically and financially.

I mean its pretty obvious the SEC does not NEED Notre Dame. I don't think anyone is arguing that. Whether it would be beneficial to add them is another argument entirely.
