from guaranteeing a prospective player a certain amount of money in NIL revenue and having boosters pony up that sum?

Were you under the assumption that this wasn't already happening without the NIL?

Miami Booster and business owner just gave a NIL contract to every single Miami player on the Roster.

Now we can pay players and get away with it.

The same thing stopping boosters from telling a kid he'll get a new Raptor after he signs

I really dont see how Oregon's class doesnt consist of the top 25 players in the country every year going forward. As much as our SEC bretheren's donors love some football the ones that are actually donating have way shallower pockets than phil knight.

From my understating it can't be used in recruiting and prospective players.

How are they possibly going to police this?

They’re not. Oregon will be better at football. My advice for all football programs.. don’t be cheap with what players you want
Arch Manning will be a million dollar man just wait

While concerning for sure, Nike is a public company, and they have a responsibility to their shareholders. The deals they strike with colleges across the country to be the exclusive provider of uniforms, shoes, etc. would be in jeopardy if they stacked the deck solely to benefit Oregon. Phil has to tread somewhat carefully here, but no doubt Oregon will benefit from NIL.

We'll see.
It would be pretty easy to determine if it was used as a recruiting enticement but the NCAA has pretty much been castrated these days.

Saban has had this program in place for years.

They aren't allowed to do that...directly anyway.
However, there is nothing that stops businesses from making it known they will give players X amount of money.

I was thinking about that when I made the OP. Money will now determine the quality of the program now more than ever. Cinderella’s will few and far between. Some of the west coast teams like Oregon, Stanford, USC, and UCLA will benefit. Texas will dominate. Huge schools of the Big 10 should do very well. Think about Notre Dame. Catholic boosters all over the US. Miami. CFB is about to really change, along with all of the other collegiate sports programs.

I think programs will get creative about how to funnel money. Courts just tied the hands of the NCAA. It’s the wild, wild West from now on.

A runner for a top 5 sports agent gave me an exact price that a certain 5 star running back that ended up at Alabama was being shopped at (still on the roster). I got independent confirmation from another source that was within 10k of what I was told. I posted it on this board along with the caveat that IDNGAF from a morality standpoint and that people SHOULD be compensated for their skills and talents and that all the top schools were doing it. Oh, the Gump meltdown that ensued.
