Yeah because there’s so much to do in alabama. I know Nebraska is boring but let’s not pretend like Alabama is Chicago, New York or Las Vegas

Alabama is still an improvement on Nebraska, and it's closer to more places worth going if you get tired of the local sights.

Sorry, but if anyone chose Nebraska over Alabama, they are retarded. 1 Saban is greater than 11 Nebraska coaches.

Recruits consider several factors to pick their college, and coaching success is just one of them. Not to mention lack of playing time due to abundance of talent can work against Saban.

They aren't the first to do this. Auburn sent out all their coaches back in 2009 in a stretch limo.

Member that time Nebraska’s coach (Scott Frost) coached UCF to an undefeated season and the school claimed his team was national champions, instead of Alabama (who won the CFP)?

Nick Saban members.

So Nebraska sent 11 coaches to visit their top target

Probably worked better if they'd shown up
on his doorstep with pitchforks and torches ;
the old intimidation technique.

Would Frost hang a national champs sign inside memorial stadium for this?

So Nebraska completely shut down recruiting all other players for this one kid for one full day...

Bold plan.

Makes perfect sense.

Actually I don't get why anyone wants to play for Saban, exactly.

Look, I am an old man now, but if I were some 18 year old awesome football player, here's what I would be looking for:

1) What kind of education will I get? Or more precisely what is the market value of a degree from that school?

We know the pecking order: Stanford > Vanderbilt = Georgia Tech >> Alabama.

2) Do I like the school? Will I be happy living there for 4 to 5 years? And remember they want you going to school CONTINOUSLY now, with no summers off.

Gainesville in the summer when all the students go home. Joy.

3) Are the coaching staffs grindy dicks? (You know who you are, Smart.) Or will there be like, you know some laughs and memories I'll treasure along the way.

You know like, when you are 50+ in a bar drinking a cold one, you say something like:

"Hah, one time this guy, Stevie Davis, he was a backup WR, never played much.

But anyway one day he manages to sneak into practice wearing just helmet, shoulder pads - and a leopard skin bikini brief.

WR coach had to be in on it. Well anyway he starts running patterns, screaming "Throw it to the SEXXXAY wide receiver!!!"

Whole team about lost it."

4) Playing time. I want to start every game my whole time there. I do not want to be part of Saban's emergency depth plan, or be an eventual 5th year starter in his machine.

Frick that. The man is gonna be on the field making plays and wowing fans the whole time.

Now someone is gonna bring up the scared of competition thing. You guys are right. Saban needs to take the Kansas job and do it all over again.

Because competition is always good right?

5) How close am I to Mamma? The man has reached such levels of epic coolness and self-assurance that he feels no fricks from being derided for worrying about an important logistic detail.

Becaus if Mamma can actually make a few home games, and cheer in the stands, "That's my boy!!!" well that's worth all kinds of sh*t Saban just can't supply.

Not to mention if my buddy from high school is getting married some weekend, I can just drive two hours or so to the wedding and pop a buncha cold ones.

Not be stuck in Tuscaloosa while the shindig happens in Charleston, SC.

In the end, a string of national championships and "tradition" would have nothing at all to do with my decision.

I would have to give minor consideration to the possible swag bags I could get from possible bowls.

Making it to the next level wouldn't be a consideration?

NFL scouts find you wherever you are. Do you honestly believe that going to Alabama gives you a better chance of making and sticking in the league than going to North Carolina does? Or Appalachian State for that matter?
