He was talking about how the defense communicates via hand signals and how difficult it can be sometimes for all 11 guys on the field to get the call before the center snaps the football. While on that subject, he made the statement that HUNH teams were notorious for stealing signals. I wonder which teams he was talking about specifically?

All teams attempt to steal signals. That’s why there are signals.

I don’t know why it’s treated like it’s some scandal to steal signals.

If the offense has time not only to call in their own plays + get aligned but also decipher defensive hand signals

Well that's on the defense for having an inefficient method

According to Saban, who actually coaches in college football and knows more than your average Auburn fan, HUNH teams try to do it more than any other.

Ok even if true, who cares? It’s part of the game. That was my original point...

Also, how do you try to do it more than others? You either trying to steal signals or your not...

You are aware that a HUNH offense offers a YUGE advantage in signal stealing?
I mean to say that its inherent in the design.

I don't see the problem.

That's weird, because when you're running a hurry up, no huddle offense you don't have nearly as much time to do anything about the defensive call you intercepted.

But by the second half, you should know with a high degree of accuracy what audible to call.

How does a HUNH team "try to do it more"? either you are tying to steal signals or not. Saban doesn't like the HUNH bc once they steal a signal and get an advantage they keep him from taking his time to adjust and get different personal...the whole point of the HUNH. F'n lol about tryng to do it more.

The irony of this is that Saban himself has installed parts of the HUNH in his offense despite trashing it several times before he realized it would help him win

This doesn't make any sense. How can you hurry if you're waiting for the defensive signal?

There's nothing against the rules about stealing signs. It's not even immoral provided you aren't using illegal means like hidden cameras, etc. It's done in many sports, including baseball. I certainly hope that UGA tries to steal defense's signs, after the performance last Saturday, we need some kind of edge.

That’s weird Saban runs a HUNH now. Is he stealing signs from himself? Would you bitch about it if he did?

What does Auburn being the biggest cheaters have to do with a team legally stealing signals?

As much as I like to say Saban is right, I don't think he's the right person to address this issue. There were strong rumors that his Dolphins team stole audio tapes with the Patriots signals when the Dolphins kicked their arse 21-0 back in 2006.

quote:

Brady had one of his worst days as a professional against the Dolphins. He was sacked four times, forced into two fumbles and threw for 78 yards. It was only the second time a Brady-led New England team was shut out and the first since the 2003 season opener.

The question that continues to swirl around the Dolphins and all over the NFL is how they managed to figure out Brady’s signals. After the game, two players told The Palm Beach Post that the team “bought” tapes that included audio of Brady.
