Nick Saban gave a very candid interview with local Fox sports reporter Rick Karle last night. He was holding a meet and greet at his new Mercedes dealership in Birmingham. While talking to Karle, he told him that working as a teenager at his dad's gas station gave him a love for cars. And after playing football at Kent State his original plan was to eventually work his way up to owning his own car dealership.

Then Don James offered him a job as a graduate assistant and the rest is history.

So I guess that's why Saban loves to own his own dealerships on the side of coaching football. It goes back to when he was a teenager in West Virginia. Oh what would have been had James never offered Saban a job on his staff?

Honestly, I hope he gets his dealership tomorrow then.

It's very likely I'm not even here. This board never becomes what it does without Saban making LSU nationally relevant for the first time in nearly half a century.

The same probably goes for you as well.

Wonder if he burns through parts managers like he does assistant coaches?

He has 3 right now. Pretty sure he's just a partner though.

When Saban does retire, he could easily make
bank doing commercials for Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola. Hell, he should do them now.

When Bobby Bowden was coaching, he did some commercials for Burger King.
