This is not breaking news….

Only one that Bama fans are disappointed/surprised by is Drew Sanders.

3 guys who were never going to play again

1 guy who could play but is so mentally whipped from his stay in the doghouse that he’s useless here

1 guy who is an SEC caliber starter but the depth chart is unkind to him.

You guys should snatch them all up for sure. Would be a huge coup.

I assume Billinglsey. He's the type of player who could only be great if he played at Bama. Another sad sack guy unfortunately.

Would love to have Sanders on our team. But if we get back to being stout in LB corps, he might not make our team either. Arkansas seems like a good fit for him.

Only one I feel any surprise over is Drew Sanders, but he was going to have to shift to ILB or have injuries occur to other outside linebackers to get much playing time. The writing has been on the wall with Billingsley since the preseason when he got in Saban's doghouse, so no shocker he is leaving and I don't think you'll find too many Bama fans upset with his departure. The other three have not played a meaningful snap and were not likely to do so, so they're just depth losses.

This is me spinning a yarn to some degree but I think what happened:

Billingsley only got on the field last year because they needed a mismatch player at H-B/TE who could exploit some things people were doing to stop the big splash plays to Metchie and Smitty off play action.

He never was really being asked to do real tight end stuff with Sark. He blocked just well enough on the end of the line that he could believably do those delay routes into voids left from people following Smitty around the field.

Bill O'Brien wanted him to develop into a real tight end and not a gadget/mismatch play rotational player. I think this rubbed Billingsley the wrong way because he could clearly see his utility and production in the offense was getting marginalized.

The thing is that Sark had the right of it with Billingsley and BOB was the one that is wrong. In college, you always got room for player who is kinda positionless but athletic. You're not going to have archetypical guys at every position but sometimes it is nice to have a guy who isn't good enough to break the WR depth chart but can play attached to the OL some and mismatch on linebackers.

Billingsley responded to all this stuff the absolute wrong way and mopped around the field for most of the season. Not sad to see him gone but I think this is a low key example of while BOB is a bad fit for college.

Sorry to see Drew Sander go, injury hurt him getting on the field then Turner showed up. Best of luck!

Jahleel Billingsley, don't let the door hit ya, in fact let me carry your bags because I'm sure you would probably drop them if I don't!
