-Auburn secured the automatic berth to March Madness from the Southeastern Conference after capturing the program's second conference tournament title in program history. The Tigers also won the SEC Tournament crown in 1985.

-Auburn won the SEC Tournament as a 5 seed and will also be a 5 seed for the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

-The Tigers are making their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and first in back-to-back seasons since 1999-2000.

-Auburn is 13-9 all-time in NCAA Tournament play and New Mexico State will be the 23rd different opponent the Tigers have faced in the tournament. This is the fourth time Auburn has been a 5 seed or higher (1 seed in 1999, 4 seed in 2018 and 5 seed in 1984).

-Auburn is currently tied for fourth in the nation with eight straight NCAA Tournament opening round victories. The Tigers trail only North Carolina (16), Kansas (11) and Gonzaga (10), and are tied with Syracuse (8) as programs with the most consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances with at least one win.

-Bryce Brown was named SEC Tournament MVP after leading the Tigers to four wins in four days and averaging a team-high 16.5 points per game. Jared Harper and Chuma Okeke were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

-The Tigers have scored at least 20 bench points 18 times, 30 bench points nine times and 40 bench points three times this season. Malik Dunbar leads the Tigers with 10 games in double figures off the bench after having just three double-digit scoring games all of last season. Twenty-five times Auburn has had a player score in double figures coming off the bench. The Tigers' reserved averaged 26.3 points per game in the SEC Tournament. On average, Auburn outscores its opponents' bench, 23.3-16.8 (815-587).

-Auburn committed only seven turnovers in its victory over Tennessee in the SEC Tournament Championship game. In the semifinals against Florida, the Tigers only had four turnovers, which was their fewest since tying a program record with three turnovers against Mississippi State on Feb. 4, 2012. The Tigers have six games with fewer than 10 turnovers in the last 11 games entering the NCAA Tournament. Auburn has a plus-8.5 turnover margin in the SEC Tournament.

-After being one of the youngest teams in the NCAA last year with one senior, Auburn boasts 13 upperclassmen and has 4,182 career points returning for the 2018-19 season - eighth-highest in the country.

By making the thread, I won't have anything to do with the outcome of the game.

8 straight opening round victories is amazing. 23 different opponents is surprising. NMSU is a trendy pick. Let the games begin.
