Don't let this post distract you from the fact that Missouri should not be in the SEC!

So a negative number is no good?

Auburn too high.

Seriously. A lot of our yards have come from the occasional deep ball downfield. I’m happy to have the ability to get a 30+ yard play, but take those away and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt...

What’s ridiculous is when you realize Bama is actually pulling punches by the second quarter in most games. Early third at the latest.

Impressive? Yes.

But look at the defenses they've faced so far. Of the 65 Power 5 schools, here is where Bama's P5 Opponents rank in Total Defense per Play against P5 competition:

#48 Ole Miss- 6.51 yards/play
#50 Louisville- 6.75 yards/play
#54 Texas A&M- 6.85 yards/play

... Out of just 65 teams.

That's a horrendous slate. Of course the offense is going to have amazing stats when they've faced those defenses.

It's not great, but 1/3 of those teams P5 defense numbers are Alabama's. So of course they are going to be really low.

Texas A&M
vs P5 Non Bama : 5.9 YPP
vs Bama : 8.6 YPP
Bama +2.7 YPP more

Louisville
vs P5 Non Bama : 6.3 YPP
vs Bama : 7.6 YPP
Bama +1.3 YPP more

Ole Miss
vs P5 Non Bama : 6.2 YPP
vs Bama : 7.2 YPP
Bama +1.0 YPP more

And all 3 of those include 1-2 qtrs of backups. The starters YPP are about 1 YPP higher.

I have to agree with this. Of the teams that Bama has played that aren't total garbage, they are teams that are better at offensive than defense. I can't deny that Bama has not faced a good defense so far. Certainly not a team with a good dline.

Right. People don’t realize that while the opponent quality is not that great, the level of domination Bama is exhibiting is downright absurd. Add in that Bama could likely have scored much, much more in each of these games and you realize anyone that is trying to take solace in a generally weak slate is only kidding themselves right now

I think a team with a good secondary will give Bama fits more than a team with a good DL.

Which sounds weird to say for a Saban Bama team.

I think you have to have an athletic, fast secondary and a DL that can control the run game by itself. If you have to bring up safeties, "Bear" the line or blitz linebackers to get pressure and/or stop the run, you are fricked. I don't care if you Deion Sanders back there. You may get a moral victory of holding us to 120 rush yard and 3.3 YPC, but you'll give up 500 through the air.

LSU and Auburn will definitely be tests.

Basically rush 4, and play Cover 2 with safeties deep all day.

Hope the front 4 can get pressure and manage to control the run game enough, and force Tua to dink and dunk down the field.

And bait him into a couple mistakes. Yep, I think that's the winning strategy.

I'm guessing it's what we see from LSU and Auburn.

The problem is Bama's WRs are so damn good that if you make one mistake in the secondary, its gonna be a long bomb TD.

I don't think Bama has a had a group of WRs collectively as good as they have now.

I don't either - especially when you add in Irv Smith and Josh Jacobs out of the backfield.

It's certainly a tall task for a defense.

Right. And when he does end up getting the ball to one of the WR’s/RBs/TEs in space (because he will), you’d better have sound tackling
