Mizzou is 3-5 in Quad 1 games. Kentucky is 1-6.

Mizzou beat Kentucky head-to-head.

Mizzou has beaten 4 ranked teams. Kentucky just 1.

UK at 35 and Mizzou at 46 does not make sense. NET Rankings are rigged/crock.

That win over Tennessee is probably doing a lot of work for them

It's the only thing that makes sense. Unless SOS and NCSOS are weighted heavily in the algorithm too. Though, we're not talking huge differences there either.

Missouri:
RPI sos 58, ncsos 162
KenPom sos 72, ncsos 289
KenPom 49
Net 46

Kentucky:
RPI sos 50, ncsos 125,
KenPom sos 69, ncsos 186
KenPom 34
Net 35

Looks like Kentucky is slightly better in all those metrics so it’s not that strange

There are probably a lot of closely scored teams in that 35-46 Net range

NET definitely has some issues. UConn was the best team in the country in non-conference but has totally fallen apart in Big East play and they are still top 10 in NET. For whatever reason it's just really difficult to generate much movement in your NET ranking past a certain point in the season, for better or worse.

I understand the premise of the NET, but I agree it still seems like it doesn't work well. Luckily basketball doesn't just tap the top 4 teams for the post season playoff. So for the most part, if you don't get in, it is your own fault. Especially if you are a P5 team.

It looks like Alabama should be ahead of Tennessee and Auburn should be higher also.

You can compare Alabama's resume to Tennessee's as well and presume that Alabama should be higher.

Alabama has 1 fewer loss, and no losses below Q1; Tennessee has 2 Q2 losses.

Alabama has more Q1 wins as well, and they have an identical Q1 winning %.

Tennessee has played 2 more Q3/Q4 games than Alabama; Alabama's SOS is significantly higher than Tennessee.

Does any of this mean that Alabama is better than Tennessee? No.

Does Alabama have the better resume? Significantly so.

NET, along with Kenpom all use predictive metrics that rank the teams. Its just a tool, not definitive rankings of outcomes.

SOR
4 3-point losses away from home.
Decent NC wins.
Adj D efficiency.

Also have a high point differential in the wins.

I don't think the impetus for the OP's post was KY envy, I think he was just using the illogic of the two to make a point.

I agree with the Bama poster who pointed out that the rankings seem flawed between Bama and Tenner as well.
