NCAA rolls out another doctor predicting season will be halted

"I do predict, because we've already been seeing it in those sports that have been very diligent, that there will be transmission and they will have to stop their games," said Dr. Colleen Kraft, an NCAA medical adviser and a professor of infectious diseases with Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. She was one of several experts who recently briefed the media on navigating college sports during the pandemic.
Note: Compare this to the U.S. Surgeon General who two days ago spoke to UA and said their protocols make the players safer than the general student body or public in general. And in same article chief NCAA medical officer Hainline once again applies pressure to SEC, etc.

I really wish someone would ask our incredibly weak leaders what their plan is when a handful of guys on a team test positive during the season.
Are we just going to cancel those teams' games? Are we going to quarantine the "sick" and let all players with negative tests play?
MLB is cancelling games when a random clubhouse staffer tests positive, which is setting a pretty horrible precedent for other sports.
What are our beloved SEC university presidents planning to do when there are inevitable positive tests for student athletes?

Dr. Colleen Kraft,
Just throwing it out there that she got her doctorate from a Big 10 school.

I don’t really know but what sounds smart is to whoever test positive just test everybody else to make sure they were not exposed again I do not know because I don’t really follow all of this stuff.

Good call, Indiana Med grad.
I'm sure everyone already knows, but the BIG and PAC are going to use every power at their disposal to cancel the football season.
Their absolute worst case scenario would be for a successful football season. It would portray their leadership as weak and scared, and their fans are going to take it out on the decision makers. The damage to their brand would be tremendous, and they and their alum are going to do everything possible to shite on the football playing conferences.
What you see here is only the beginning.
F Them.
Rant over.

Does she actually practice (front line ER) or she a professor?

They can't do shite to LSU's hoops if the SEC finally decides to tell the NCAA to kick rocks and forms an alliance with a number of other Power 5 schools and have their own organization.

Are we still pretending that everyone wont eventually catch this?
Early on, it was all about "flattening the curve" so the medical system didnt get overwhelmed.
Now, it seems to be about keeping anyone from catching it all which is a fool's errand.

Let's be honest. We both know that is just a complete coincidence. There is no doubt in my (and I'm sure yours also) mind that where she got her doctorate had absolutely no influence on her statement.
Without a doubt, she just made that statement out of a sense of responsibility to all college age athletes because, as you know:
IF WE CAN JUST SAVE ONE LIFE.......

Not great but the medical school is beyond reproach.
I kind of get the "feeling" that the SEC, BIG12 and ACC are now dug in....short of some kind of catastrophe I think they have made the decision to play the season and damn the consequences. I think the Big10 and Pac12 have done the same thing in reverse and would back down from that decision now if they could somehow and save face.
I don't doubt there will be problems with playing but I think they will be more of starters missing some or most of the season due to exposure and teams playing with a mash unit so to speak....i originally thought cancelled games would be a huge problem but i think given the reaction to the others canceling the season we may not see many cancelled games if any...just play with what you have and damn the consequences. If it doesn't destroy a program, and I don't see how it does, the conferences playing will be on top for the foreseeable future...

It will be one fear porn article after the other until the season starts...

I don't know about within a football environment, but out in the real world they want to do contact tracing and quarantine anyone who came in contact with a positive-tested individual. That would mean almost the entire team if applied to sports. Not realistic in my opinion.

Ask the witch to explain this in detail .....
"NHL announces no positive COVID-19 test results out of 7,245 ..."
That is Officials, Announcers, Staff and players ...
There is one common element I can think of. Maybe everyone needs to play on ice.

This fact is why this whole situation is so backward. The players literally have higher risks from the seasonal flu. I’m in the research field and can tell you just having an M.D. doesn’t mean you can think rationally about complex issues.
