Yeah I am good with playing outdoor spring sports championships North of the Mason-Dixon line. I hate that Oregon has an advantage, but that facility and the weather in Eugene are perfect for hosting this event.

As one one of very few track geeks here, I’ll be following all week/weekend. Thanks for the post.

25 minutes between the 400 and 400 hurdles.

That is not much recovery time.

The women’s competition is going to be really close with Arkansas’ consistent points.

Hog men are going to run away with it

Absolutely no clue how she is going to do it. If she can pull it off, she may need her own statue at McDonnell Field as she will be an all time great.

Texas women are going to be hard to beat. I've seen some predictions that have them scoring 100+ for the meet.

Britton Wilson is going to have to shine for Arkansas to have a chance here. She is an absolute future world champ, especially once Mclaughlin goes to the 400 flat.

Meanwhile, Arkansas men as re expwcted to show out. Bucknam actually hiring experienced, world class SEC veterans on his staff after a decade of Northern Iowa retread failure may have finally paid off.

What to know going into day 2 of the NCAA T&F championships.

LINK

Kenneth Ikeji broke his own personal record on the men's hammer throw and set a Michael A. Myers Stadium record. Meanwhile, as predicted, LSU dominated the 4x100m race. Running a time of 38.06. The team achieved the fastest ever pace for NCAA Track and Field Championships.

Nice. Didn't Florida hold that record previously?

We did, but I think LSU broke it in the SEC championships a few weeks ago.

EDIT: Yes LSU broke the record held by Florida at the SEC Championships, but this did not break that record. This is the record time for the prelims.

Record set by UF in 2019 was 37.97 and LSU ran a 37.90 on May 13th at the SEC Championship finals. This was a 38.06 and the LSU anchor pulled up at the end, so they have something left in the tank.

Yup, thermostat got turned up this week. There’s very little shade & the noise/heat radiates off I-35.

I watched a little last night, the announcers went on and on about the heat, mid 80's?

The final event was the 10k M, temp was 80, and the announcers made a huge deal about it?

Is the mid 80's too hot for track & field these days?

Well it's not just the heat. Being at or near sea level and also pretty humid makes the athletes less energetic, shall we say. I don't think anyone is worried about their safety, but it is not ideal for record setting, which is what brings viewers.
