Kentucky fans, this could hurt you guys a little. This would have hurt Bama with Sexton and Georgia with the number one guy they got.
How do y’all feel about this? It should make college basketball a little better all around, although will hurt some big name schools at first. At least you don’t have to worry about one and dones. Guys that choose college will stay to develop now.

I don't think it really hurts Kentucky - they'll still sign 5 of the best 20 players available to colleges. It just bumps everyone down 8-10 spots.

Yes, but there won’t be a huge talent gap any more.
Imagine duke without Zion and RJB. They would look completely different even if they got the next best players. Zion, RJB, and Morant are the best 3 available and there’s a huge drop off after that.

It does present an interesting situation if kids are allowed to go back to committing and then deciding late whether they want to go to the draft or not. You could end up missing out on kids and getting left at the alter if half your class decides late to go to the NBA.

Cal has actually done better with a roster of experienced kids. And he’s been asking for them to get rid of the rule for awhile. So I’m not worried about that. It means it cuts out one and done for everyone. Kentucky got the recruits before the rule and will still do so afterward.

The NBA did a masterful job of basically pushing the public narrative against 1 and Dones as the NCAA's issue.
The NCAA sucks but this was 100% because of the NBA.

You should actually bother to read the articles that you link. It says in the article it would not take effect until 2022.

It's about time.
And Kentucky will be fine.

I think there is with Duke for sure this year. They lost by 20 with Zion out. That guy is Lebron in college.

I never said anything about it taking effect now, I just said they proposed it and was using players as hypotheticals.
Alabama wouldn’t have made a tourney run, and Georgia wouldn’t be getting this number 1 guy.

They should go to the baseball rule. Declare out of high school or three-year minimum. With Europe always there as an option.

100% agree - and the fact that baseball kids get to go through the draft and then decide what to do. It's so silly and arbitrary to make kids decide in or not before they even know where they'll get drafted.

Agree. I really like that system.

So, they are going to make it where NCAA basketball fans have less of an incentive to take interest in the NBA?
Good move.
Good move.

It’s funny that they announced this too after Zion blew through his shoe and NBA players started tweeting about him needing to just sit it out.
They were all basically trashing the NCAA. Especially with all of the cheating stuff recently, these guys obviously feel like there is no point in making them play in college for a year especially when they can get injured and lose millions.
John Wall, Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins, Ben Simmons... etc. These guys are all All Stars now and could have easily been NBA players out of high school.

100% in favor of the new rule.
No reason to "make" kids go to school one year before going to the League.
Good riddance to the one and done era of college basketball.

I edited that to add the link. Why are you trying to troll in this thread? There’s literally no one to troll or nothing to troll about. Sheesh.

In theory yes, but you could argue those guys who should be in the NBA immediately now will be and the elite of the elite no longer will make it to college to "make that immediate difference".
To me, there's a definite difference in the Top 5-10 guys then the ones from there in the freshmen class in terms of immediate impact.
