Forget about history and tradition. I don't care what a team did 30 years ago.
If you were naming the top 10 programs in college football right now based on the play on the field, recruiting, coaching, facilities, finances, fan support, and record/big wins, who would you pick?
(SEC related because I wonder how many SEC teams ends up on this list).
My Take:
1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Notre Dame
4. LSU
5. Ohio State
6. Oregon
7. Georgia
8. Texas A&M
9. Oklahoma
10. Florida State/South Carolina*
Added in South Carolina. 3 straight great seasons puts them in the top 10.

I listed more than 10, but it would be some combination of these teams, imo. No particular order. All of these programs are healthy enough to compete for championships in the near future

Two people with Clemson over Stanford, eh? Interdasting.

Texas A&M at #3 is WAAAY too high.
Other than that, not too much to complain about as it is just your opinion.
They are rising fast though, no doubt.

Not even the best program in the state of SC.

I agree. The only ACC team that should be in this discussion is FSU.

I think Clemson is on the verge of a special season this year. They have a top 5 team returning in my opinion. Does that mean they will finish top 5? Who knows. I'm sure they'll lose to NC State or some team they shouldnt.

In a head to head matchup this year I'd probably take Clemson just because of team speed.

No ACC team should be considered, not even Florida State. They've won precisely one ACC title in the last seven years.
A top ten program would be dominating that conference consistently.

No. I put you at #8, so I am clearly giving you credit. I just need to see more than one season with 11 wins and finishing 3rd in the SEC West before I put you at #3 nationally.
You are the 3rd best program in the SEC West. And, that is a compliment.
