Since the NFL draft is soon decided take a closer look at where does the talent comes from in general. Credit to BhamDore bringing light to the topic in another thread.
Top states that produce NFL players
Opening day 2020 rosters
Florida 194
Texas 192
California 170
Georgia 134
Ohio 71
Alabama 60
Pennsylvania 60
Louisiana 59
You can flip flop any given year Texas and Florida. Occasionally California is on top with Georgia having more NFL per capita in that group of four.
I tried to look at a few different sources, some of the numbers might not be 100% accurate. Especially when you factor in places like IMG academy and other prep' schools that have pop up recently in football hotbeds. It's other websites that have different criteria also.
South Carolina ranks just behind Louisiana and Alabama with NFL players per capita in regards to total population numbers.

People in Louisiana believe they have this insane talent pool over other states when in reality it's not true.
LSU advantage comes from the only school in a major conference in their state.
It's the same advantage Ohio State has.

Why do you think people in LA have this misconceived? The monopoly over a state with as many players per capita as anywhere is plenty advantage to recruit at a high level.
I never hear people assert that Louisiana has more blue chip talent than Florida.

Louisiana has the highest per capita, it what I had been told.
Just checked. Louisiana is now second by a hair behind Georgia.
LINK
IOW, based on statistical analysis, a player from GA, LA, and AL has a better chance to be NFL talent than a player from TX, CA, or FL.

170 (Cali) from a population of 30 million or 59 from a pop of 4 million
Hmmmmmm
ETA corrected for the moron who though I exaggerated to make Florida look bad when jorts and Florida man do that just fine on their own.

It's difficult to find sources because everything related to the subject is behind a pay wall. I used that particular article because it did have a graphic tweeted by CBS sports.

Of course not everyone knows where FL, TX, CA, rank.
The people in LA don't seem to realize that AL, MS, LA, GA, and SC all have had the distinction of most NFL players per capita in recent years.
I think they think Sabans infatuation with players from LA is somehow an indictment on the talent level in Alabama.
It's just strategic recruiting. You kill 2 birds with one stone when you take a high level player from LA.
Saban took back Mobile and the entire State first to hurt Auburn. Then he went GA to hurt Auburn and Tennessee. Now he dips in LA to hurt LSU.
He has done it to a detriment imo recently.

So your entire premise relies on "I think they think"?

Obviously states with bigger populations will produce more NFL players. They will also produce more lawyers, doctors, architects, engineers, plumbers, and electricians.

Last I read DC had the highest per capita players in the nfl. Not sure if that’s still true but I think at one time that was the case.
Who really knows and honestly I do not know anyone from Louisiana that hangs their hat on this statistic.

Maybe 6 trolls that float on these boards may think/say that but regular everyday people really could not care less

"Per capita" is a silly argument anyway. It should be per participant. It gives you a much clearer picture and Florida would probably be way out in front.

LOL LOL
Actual FL. population - 21.65 million
Actual LA. population - 4.65 million
Here is an example of a primary problem down here... either misinformation or a tendency to exaggerate, combined with a serious underestimate or outright ignorance about the talent on other teams.
The most commonly seen comment about Louisiana from Louisianians is "how can we not win with all that talent up there?" Well... talent is comparative. So how about researching the talent on the other team?
Oh, guess what.. Alabama has a bigger population than LA does (4.9 MM), and SC has a lot more than either (5.2 MM).

I mean does the per capita really mean Anything? I would say the amount your state has is what matters and Georgia has it in spades but thats still kindve a crapshoot. The fact is kids don't care about being in state near as much as they used to, they're little superstars and they embrace the shite out of it. Last year a 3 star kid released like a 15 minute short movie with all sorts of editing that seemed like he was a ninja to announce his top 8. Cody brown, our last recruiting class hb that bounced after Pruitt left trolled the shite out of mizzou for Twitter followers and then committed to Miami. Obviously having in state kids isn't a bad thing but if Wyoming produces 2 4 stars and 8 3 stars next year and they become the highest per capita does that really help univ of Wyoming that much?
