Does ANYBODY believe Ohio State or OU is better than Georgia on a neutral field? Clearly the committee doesn’t. So why does Georgia potentially losing a close game to what everyone believes is one of tGOAT college teams suddenly change that?

Let’s face it, the committee’s job is not to actually put the 4 best teams in the playoff. It’s to put 4 really good teams in while avoiding rematches if at all positions, maximizing viewership and applying recency bias. The top 4 right now is the 4 best teams, almost everyone agrees with that. But because Georgia is probably going to lose to an all-time great team, they won’t be in the playoff in order to avoid eye rolls and rematches.

It's politics for sure.

I think the committee may compare a close loss by UGA to close wins by tOSU and OU equally.

It doesn't help that UGA's regular season loss wasn't just a close one, but a blowout to a team who ended up losing 3 games.

We shall see.

Yep only have ourselves to blame. We win at LSU then I think we are in no matter what happens this Saturday.

It's all about money and viewers.

Some lady was on finebaum tonight saying the committee was going to seed folks based on where they would play

As in, Oklahoma Bama matchup in Dallas would be unfair to bama because it's so close to Oklahoma. So they would intentionally send them to Orange in Florida

The committee doesn’t decide rankings based on who they think would win on neutral fields. They look at every teams resume. Georgia would have 2 losses, one of those losses by 20 points. IF OU wins, they would have just 1 loss by 3 points and would have avenged that loss. Ohio State would have just one loss and a better win than any of Georgia’s.

Top 2 seeds are placed closest to their campuses by design.

I think OU has the offense to hang with Georgia but no defense to pull out a win

True, but osu’s loss was an arse kicking by a bad team. Uga’s arse whipping came from a top 10 team.

College football is a tv show first and a sport second. It’s been that way for a long time. Kind of sucks but it is what it is.

Georgia’s wins: 9-Florida, 15-Kentucky, 24-Missouri
Georgia’s losses: 10-LSU

Ohio State’s wins: 7-Michigan, 12-Penn State
Ohio State’s losses: UR Purdue

I got no problem with dawgs getting left out if we are a 2 loss SEC runner up, assuming their are 1 loss P5 conf champs.

Now if our only loss was a close one to the #1 team I’d feel differently for sure

Georgia would probably be a lock regardless but they have that shiteshow that happened in baton rouge hanging over them.

I agree about OU, but not about Ohio State. LSU is a way better team than Purdue. So, Georgia's loss is not nearly as bad as Ohio State's loss. As much as it pains me to defend Georgia, they have the 2nd best quality loss of the three.

I also don't think it is fair to knock Georgia out simply because of a loss to a dominant team like Bama. Bama is clearly a cut above anyone else this year. But, if UGA loses by 20-30 then it's hard to convince me that they should get in over OU, because they've just shown they can't compete with one of the playoff teams in crunch time.

OSU lost by 29 to a 6 loss Purdue. OU lost close to a decent Texas team, so I understand that one.
