An honest assessment of the top team(s) in the country are between these (3) in no particular order....LSU, Clemson, Ohio State.

I'm not going to be lulled into thinking Clemson isn't going to win this thing again. They have superior athletes on both sides of the ball, and granted, their schedule is just horrible, but, against good competition, I'd still put my money on them. Their only problem is being "lulled to sleep"by inferior competition. Big word regarding Clemson is keeping them motivated. That's a coach's job, and nobody is better than Dabo and Venables.

LSU, no doubt, has a great, great offense... but defensively they are at best a little above average. The big problem is depth, and they will get worn out by the likes of Clemson and OSU. Still, there is something magical about the Tigers this year, and that is primarily due to Burrow. We'll never see the likes of a guy like that again for a long time at LSU.

Now, OSU... I've seen them numerous times this year, like LSU and Clemson.. and this team is the best I have ever seen. They don't have weaknesses at any position and are so deep at every position with super athletes it's ridiculous. The thing that impresses me most about them is how effortlessly and efficiently they play under Ryan Day and his staff. That wasn't the case under Meyer where you could detect a lot of stress and anxiety.

Anything can happen in football so take your pick.

Agreed with all points. If all three of those teams hold serve it will be a compelling playoff field for the first time in a while instead of the typical bama/Clemson inevitable showdown.

Hopefully someone new gets the fourth spot like Oregon or Utah. Then the battle for the 1 seed would truly be meaningful

I don't think either one of them could keep up with top (3).

That's a fair assessment.

I think LSU and OSU are clearly the two best teams in the nation right now. Despite the LSU win, OSU *may* have a bit of a legitimate beef if LSU passes them in all polls (they only scored 73 points on a power 5 team without their best player, and will still likely drop in the polls). In terms of game play, I think Bama and Clemson are about even though one would have to give Clemson the nod at this point due to being undefeated.

It is going to be interesting on how it all floats out. I fail to see how LSU, OSU, and Clemson do not make the final four - I really don't see them losing going forward until then. Not even LSU to Georgia in the SEC championship.

So who will be the best one-loss team going forward?

Either Baylor or Oklahoma will be eliminated. The best scenario for Bama would be for them to split the regular season and championship games. I don't think either Minnesota or Penn St emerge from the Big 10. I don't think Utah makes it either.

Ultimately, I think it will come down to Bama or Oregon. I think we still have a decent shot at getting in but a little help would be nice. I hope Arizona St steps up and LSU takes care of business against UGA - Bama is out easily against a one-loss LSU team. I think a one-loss Bama is better than an undefeated Baylor but the committee might not see it that way (and I seriously doubt it happens anyway).
