Just saw on TV the weather there....just over half million customers (which equals out to many more than this in absolute numbers) are still w/o power...hot and sticky, bugs galore. What a mess people are having to deal with -- again.

I don't care what y'all say...you don't ever get used to this stuff. If you did you wouldn't be human. Prayers are with you.

Great post. We jack around with one another about sports but life is real, and hurricanes leave things in mess.

I'm down in Gulf Shores, and I've met a lot of folks from Louisiana staying here because their homes have been destroyed, or without power, etc. God bless those in the struggle and who've lost so much.

Thank goodness for the civil engineering they had in place. It is a miracle how many lives were saved in Louisiana as a result of the new levees.

I agree. It's really bad. I was in Houma last Thursday checking on some stuff. People there are suffering.

Thank you for the post, life is more than football and there are so many whose life is in such a mess that they are not worrying about a win loss record right now, may God bless you guys.

Thank God for the new levees and for the smooth functioning of the National Guard units. Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas all have Guardsmen assisting the Louisiana National Guard.

How do you average 27 posts a day?

That's insane.

How many hurricanes will it take for some of these people to realize its not worth living there? Go ahead and vote me down. But when Katrina hit, many left. The ones that didn't were proudly proclaiming they would NEVER leave

Ok....

I still have family without electricity. Hopefully they get it back on today. Thanks for your thoughts.

I'd appreciate money sent over prayers sent.

Just throwing it out there...

NOLA isn't the same anymore.

Mainly because Katrina sent the born and bred away. The ones who moved in are transplants from the northeast or the Pacific Northwest who don't understand the culture and are changing it to be what they think it should be.

The "City that Care Forgot" turned into a city that cares too much.

It's a shame.

Where can they go and be safe from natural disasters?

Thanks for the kind words. Rode out the hurricane last week in Baton Rouge with my mom (83 years old). No power, living off of a generator. She is tough as nails. They finally got power back today.

The ones that left after Katrina left for Houston and Austin. Ask me how I know.

I remember seeing on the news a ton of people proclaiming they would never leave. This was when the city was still flooded from Katrina!!

Why people don’t LA is unexplainable really. I’m sure you all have reasons you live where you live. But, the old culture and way of life LA is like no other. And, if we have to get kicked in the balls every now and then, we’ll deal with it, again. Not leaving though.
Oh, and the FOOD, you already know!

Mostly weather threads on the OT. They're probably 70% of those posts.
