God damn do I hate Georgia.
Historically, Georgia won't win a national championship until the 2080's when Herschel Walker VII is their RB.
How does that feel?

No MNCs...no BCS titles...nothing...zip, nada since 1980 ?? WTF?? I keep seeing the recruiting rankings year after year and with all that talent, its squandered in Athens....where dreams go to die. Eventually even a blind squirrel will find an acorn.
In all seriousness it will be USC or us in Hotlanta this year...you had all that upperclassmen "defensive" talent" last year, a road map of a schedule and still couldnt pull it off. Your DC would have some plaining to do in my book...NFL talent everywhere on defense...you might have eight drafted and you finish 77th in the country against the run?????? Cuse me? How is this possible?
Oh...one more parting peice of info....how many games has Jawja won against UF since 1990? Painful isnt it? You will avoid answering my question...its ok rig....we down my canine friend.

The SEC is a different animal now. You can go 11-1 in the regular season and not see the SECCG. Ask Bama about that in 2011.
I think the biggest thing for a coach to prove he can be successful is to make that big jump from year 1 to year 2. Champ did that. I expect he'll be around for a while.
Which from an UGA standpoint I would think is a good thing since he hasn't beaten UGA yet.
So I don't understand the point of the thread...

Do UF fans see any drop off in their D this year?

I'd be shocked if there isn't a dropoff. Elam, Bostic, and Floyd were huge for UF last year.
UF will have new starters at both DT spots, both MLB spots, and both safety spots.
I expect they will still be a top 10-15 unit, but not in the argument for top nationally like last year.

Nice analysis.
Didn't UF lose their DC as well? Who is his replacement?

Dj durkin was promoted to dc from within. Honestly with muschamp defense isnt the issue regardless who the dc is.
The issue is offense. And imo uf is still a year away from a personnel standpoint from being dangerous on that side of the ball.
Defense has very good players and solid depth. Powell, fowler, bullard, and easley will be a force on the line and jacobs, orr, reed and cummings will add solid depth. Lb is solid with taylor, morrison, ball, and kitchens. And uf has probably the best set of corners in the conference with roberson and watkins. The only question is safety and the talent there is strong.

So I quote apartheid era paul simon, dude thinks im referring to a jack black movie, and i'm the one who wasnt alive in 80?

I'm not worried about whether he wins the conference in his first three years as I am the direction the team is going. He'll likely either play for championships (SEC and BCS) or will be somewhere else in a few years. But most Gators are cognizant of the fact that we really really sucked when he took over.
Frankly my big hope is that he doesn't end up a Richt - always good enough to keep his job but never good enough to win the big one. Of course, I think the expectations might be different right now at UGA and UF.
