This did not just start, though you may have just started watching college baseball. Under DVH Arkansas' baseball program has called itself the Omahogs for quite a while.
Obviously an aTm fan wouldnt know much about Omaha unless it concerns their Heartland Pride Festival.

Arkansas has been using that for several years now. It's not new, folks. They get to Omaha pretty regularly so it's not odd either.

I'm rooting for state.
But, the nickname "OmaDawgs" would only really make sense if there was a city named Omada.
It's always been a knock-off of Omahogs, which is not the stretch that Omadawgs is.
It is more like if LSU called themselves the OmaTigers. Or Ole Miss, if they ever went, "OmaRebs".
All kinda ghey....
