What metric are we looking at here, and why does it matter?

Quadrant 1 wins. It kinda breaks down all the wins. The best wins are Q1, then Q2,3&4 iirc.

It's basically the quality of wins with factors behind it.

Thx. Is this used in any way to determine who gets to the big dance?

Yes good wins help very much. Another thing you notice on that chart is NET I don't know much about it, but I think it's a new thing that they are using as well that is made up of different things. Iirc NET is basically how good the team is. Watch both of these come selection and they will be talking about them and the other usual acronyms.

I'd agree - I think State is #4. Can solidify it by finishing strong.

Some people are gonna be surprised when State ends up a #5 seed in the NCAAT.

#5 is a dangerous seed for State. They could get out of the first weekend or could run into a weird #12. One thing the NET is going to do that RPI didn’t is reward the Woffords of the world. Those guys are really good. In the past they would be a 12 or 13 seed. They might be a 7 or 8 seed. That’s where the 12-5 upset normally comes.

As of this past weekend State also had 9th toughest SOS in the country. And of the 7 losses, 6 of them were by 5 points or less.

I don’t have the full list, but I was talking about replacing crappy games against Grambling with games against Wofford and St. Mary’s and how much it’s helped.

That's true but there's some points i wanted to make.

1. The SEC is a much better basketball conference than people are giving them credit for.

2. The fact that a team like Mississippi State has more Q1 wins than Duke or North Carolina speaks volumes about how legitimate Mississippi State is.

3. All 4 of these teams are NCAA locks. Just playing for seeding now.

4. I expect 7 SEC Teams in the tournament but 8 wouldn't surprise me.

I’ve been to about five or six Wofford games the past two years. Very very good shooting team. Kid named Fletcher Magee is second in NCAA history all time for three pointers. Would not surprise me if they won a game in the tournament.

I would like this answered for all the SEC representatives. Unfortunately, I’m much too lazy to make that happen.

I'm trying to make it happen but it's a more difficult search than one would think

WarrenNolan is the GOAT for this stuff

MSU NET Team Sheet (WarrenNolan)

quote:

Quadrant 1 (Q1):
Home (1-30)
Neutral (1-50)
Away (1-75)

Wins
vs #19 Wofford
vs #22 Cincinnati
vs #23 Auburn
vs #30 Florida
@ #38 Ole Miss
N #39 Saint Mary's
N #41 Clemson
@ #67 Dayton
@ # 72 Arkansas

Losses
vs #5 Kentucky
@ #5 Kentucky
vs #13 LSU
@ #48 Alabama

What's funny is they are 9-4 vs Q1 but only 2-3 vs Q2.
