I know most will point to 9-6 in terms of physicality and there was probably more talent on the field..BUT LSU Auburn in 2006 was by far the most hard hitting game that I’ve seen in the modern era. Pretty sure my tv had snot bubbles at one point.

The 2004 game at JHS (10-9 Auburn win) was like that too.

Great era for SEC football. So many great players across the league and the games were absolute battles.

2012 Georgia/Florida was as hard hitting of a game as I've ever watched in the SEC.

2008 AFC Championship game, Ravens/Steelers

This was the hardest hitting football game I've ever seen on any level. The cold weather made it even more intense.

Didn’t Ryan Clark knock out anquan boldin on the sidelines while at the same time knocking himself temporarily unconscious?

I think that’s also the game that when they interviewed mike tomlin his response to who will win was “Which ever team is more violent”

Yeah that game was not for the weak hearted. That game looked more like something that should have been played in the ancient Roman Coliseum.

Intense can mean so many things. A back and forth nail biter? A physical contest? Missouri Nebraska '97 actually comes to mind as far as a non-A&M game goes. LINK

2010 State vs. Arkansas. First game in Starkville after Nick Bell passed away, his mother broke the moment of silence by ringing a cowbell. Thinking about that moment still gives me chills.

Even though State lost in double OT, this game was probably the best game I've ever watched at Davis Wade. Back and forth all throughout, Arkansas had a horribly timed fumble late and State tied it on a last second field goal. First OT, Vick Ballard has an incredible effort run where he dives for the pylon but an Arkansas helmet hit the ball in mid air and it went out of the end zone for a touchback. That moment was BRUTAL as a State fan. But then Arkansas immediately missed a chip shot field goal that would've won it. The second OT was pretty straight forward, Arkansas scored a TD fairly easily and then State didn't really come close to scoring. But that was a fantastic football game and incredibly intense throughout.

Honorable mention would be State-Bama 2017 (another excruciating ending) and then maybe the 2013 Egg Bowl, which was a dud of a game for the most part but the 4th quarter and OT is iconic for State fans (Dak coming off the bench, the 4th and goal TD run in OT, the infamous Bo Wallace fumble).

A little bias here but 2010 Bama-Arkansas. That was just a hard fought game by two very even teams. The crowd was rocking the whole time.

Personally witnessed:

2014 Ole Miss v AU. The game Treadwell broke his leg and they took the points off the board as they carried him off on the stretcher.

Never witnessed a more intense game.

2011 LSU Bama regular season. I like defensive football but that might have been too much. Still for pure intensity considering it was 1 vs 2... that shite was insane.

2015 and 2016 National Championship games vs Clemson. Both were super intense.

2012 Alabama vs UGA SECCG - "they ran out of time"

2017 National Championship vs UGA

1992 SECCG vs UF. The second half was super intense.

2011 Game of the Century

2013 Iron Bowl. "Kick 6". We were playing for a chance to play for three in a row.

2012 and 2014 Alabama vs LSU were super intense ballgames, especially the finishes.
