I have an honest question. We all get lumped into one pot as a fan base regardless who we pull for. Every fan base has very successful people and some we'd not want to claim, but I have an honest question.

I know many Ole Miss fans I consider good friends. Like, we cook out together, hang out etc. As you know, there has been a stereotype associated with Ole Miss in general over the years.

Things like food served on china during tailgating or the attitude of always looking down on people as if they are not good enough. You know your own fans so there is no need to go on.

My question is simple. How many of you hate that part of your fan base and wish you could fit in with others? I am talking about that snob base that thinks their shite don't stink. The ones who actually live life in the "We are Ole Miss by damn" and think they are better than everyone else.

I have never understood some in your base who feel a need to wear dress pants, a hot dress shirt and bowtie in the middle of a hot summer august day but they do it all the time. To me it's just so fake.

How many of you guys hate that or do you embrace that?

to be completely honest, I didn't like the student body when I was a student. I remember as a freshman, during the first mixer I attended. (are those parties still called mixers today? I don't know) this really hot girl, typical Ole Miss coed type, came up to me and we were talking. 5 minutes into the conversation, and she says "so...what does YOUR daddy do?"...in hindsight, I'm sure she was expecting me to say doctor or lawyer or some shite. so when I said he is a computer programmer at the state tax commission, her face went blank. 3 minutes later she walked off...it was a defining moment for me. but it did not erase my love for Ole Miss. I was the first member of my family to attend Ole Miss. my father and grandfather loved ole miss football back in the day, and passed it on to me...to answer your question, no. I don't like the stereotypical ole miss frat boy type. but I love ole miss

ETA....I am 51 yrs old. attended ole miss from 1984-1988

You oversold it right here. As you become a better angler, you will learn better knots, a little more subtle presentation and how to prepare your offering for pressured fish.

When in doubt, always, and I mean this as a friend who knows a Ole Miss fan, use a SpotSticker Jighead with a finesse worm

actually, its a legitimate question he is asking...it doesn't account for the inferiority complex he carries with him, but the question?...its legit.

The only people who wear that shite are in weird frats and from out of state. But, I get what you're saying man. It's same with me and my black friends. We really are close, swear to god. Went to footlocker last week.

Has made ole miss more likeable. Then the jackholes underneath him do what they can to ruin it. A damn shame.

If you didn't contradict yourself all the time then some posters you're going to get grief from. One minute you hate all things Ole Miss, and the next you have Ole Miss friends. It's got to be one or the other around here. But to answer your question, someone already answered it basically. Mostly out of towners thinking they are fitting in. I just usually wear a polo and some jeans. As for the food served on China, it's usually an older crowd with wine. I usually eat beforehand and drink anything that's cold. Most of the regs do the same byob.

I understand this completely. In 1989 I went to Ole Miss on a recruiting trip (golf). The girl that was my host for the day told me that if I didn't drive a BMW or better I'd never get a date as a freshman. I told the Coach as soon as I met with him at lunch that Ole Miss just wasn't for me.

I went to starksville for a football game and was shocked to find that not every state college fan on campus was wearing overalls and a john deere cap with a dip of snuff in the bottom lip...opened up my eyes to a new way of thinking.

I would consider myself a middle of the road Ole Miss fan. I think there is a place for some of the traditions of getting dressed up and whatnot. I think as a middle class kid from out of state I was not as in as I might have been and didn't get the scene.

It has actually become a charicature of itself over the years, from people just dressed up nice having a fun time to a ridiculous effort to go as over the top as possible as if you were standing next to a J. Crew store when it exploded.
