So basically everyone ranked poorly is complaining about the rankings. This is not surprising.

So basically everyone ranked too high is celebrating about the rankings. This is not surprising.

Has Bama turned into a degree mill? Why so low?

You won’t find a list with South Carolina very high because it isn’t a very good school, and this list is still shite.

increased tuition / out of state students most likely

It could almost be viewed as an inverse ranking of how much revenue a school is able to generate relative to its comparative quality.

ETA: I'm not a fan of increased tuition rates and all at Alabama, but they have been able to pump up the revenue significantly over the past 10 years.

Ranked by value. Michigan and UCLA aren’t better colleges than Harvard.

I’m sorry you didn’t crack the top 400.

I wish someone would have been this honest with me in high school.

I had a pretty good deal that I could have taken at #78 ranked Clemson.

The people that put these kind of rankings together have more biases baked into them than you can begin to name. They are meaningless as far as I am concerned.

Or we, you know, read the methodology... instead of just assuming a high score meant that it was all that mattered.

Methodology

Of interesting note is the tale of Cal State U - Long Beach

Among the lowest entrance scores (1130/23).
$51,100 per year - roughly the same as Alabama
But it's cheap.
And classes are possibly small

Take into Cost of Living (which NONE of these things ever seem to do), and that $51k a year in Alabama will go much further than it does in California. So why is this the #13 school in the country? Because their students will be poor for their area.

quote:

Using a COL Calculator:

To maintain your current standard of living in Birmingham-Hoover AL Metro, you need to earn:

$ 33,333.57

$51,000 per year is a much higher standard of living in Hoover, for example, than in Long Beach.

Congrats, I guess, on going to a top 15 "Money.com" school though.
