I thought you had an elite basketball team this year that was gonna run through the conference?

Did you lose by 20 on your home floor?

No one saw their game because no one cared.

‘Member Santa’s Christmas spirit meter in Elf?

Same thing applies to Mizz sports. No one cares and the meter needs a Tesla battery

Had to get our first loss out of the way. We will rebound with a nice easy win against Arky

The refs screwed us and we were Tennessee’s super bowl and we hadn’t played a game in over a week

We beat Auburn at their place by 12 with them shooting about 80% from three. We will beat you by 20 in Bud Walton.

The way MU played last night we had no business being on the same floor with Tennessee. At one point I was hoping Mizzou would stall so we didn't get beat by 30.

To me, it looked worse than just an "off night." Who are we? We'll find out against Arky I suppose.

It’s a very bad matchup for Mizzou. I posted in the game thread yesterday afternoon that there’s essentially no way to score against Tennessee if you don’t make boat loads of 3s both contested and uncontested (Tennessee gives up a few of these a game, usually to secondary options). Guys like McKinley Wright, Xavier Pinson, Mark Smith etc. haven’t gotten any clean looks but secondary perimeter options are going to get a few clean looks. Tennessee just doesn’t give up anything inside the arc defensively. Excellent perimeter defenders and elite ball screen defense and defensive mistakes are going to be cleaned up at the rim, so you have to make double digit 3s or close to it.

Mizzou is a very poor shooting team so they were forced to try and draw fouls as virtually their only form of offense.

They had 16 field goals, 20 turnovers and 53 points and 30 free throw attempts.

Evidently the game thread disappeared into cyberspace which is kind of weird but this thread gives me the opportunity to say what I said in that one. It appears they got blowed out the gym by twenty points on their own home court in what the OP of the game thread labeled as “the best game” thus far this season. With such lofty expectations that loss had to hurt.
