IF Berkstresser is gone, and IF Franklin isn't quite ready to go on Sept 1, we'd be looking at Ashton Glaser - RSJR, Alec Demczak - SO, or Maty Mauk - true FR. Once Mauk gets here this summer, he may jump Glaser and Demczak on the depth chart. It could be ugly. But, Pinkel doesn't really make exceptions - if charged with a felony and likely to be convicted, he would probably be done. I still think they'd try to plead that down though.
ETA: There wasn't any mention of alcohol. But it was over 2 hours between the accident and his arrest, so it would be hard to make a DUI stick, assuming he was drinking. He could just say he drank after the accident. He may have saved himself the DUI, but gotten a felony anyway.

From everything I've heard, he's tracking ahead of expected progress. They're hoping he can start throwing in July, but that still doesn't give him a lot of time. He can't afford any setback at all.

That's never good. I hope the best for him but that's not very much time.

I know. But Franklin is very tough, and he has a top notch surgeon and fantastic rehab people working with him. If anyone can do it, it would be him.

Man, I need to quickly catch up on Mizzu's and A&M's roster so I can learn some of these players.

That's how I'm feeling about the 12 current SEC teams! I know the stars' names, but not much beyond that.
Of the ones I listed above - Mauk is the one you probably haven't heard of that you should keep an eye on. QB recruit from Ohio, in his 4 years of HS he accumulated over 22,000 yards of total offense running in a spread system similar to Mizzou's. He should be a great fit for us, and there are very high expectations for him. They will probably try to redshirt him this year unless Berkstresser is booted. If that's the case, Mauk could easily jump the other 2 on the depth chart and be Franklin's backup. Even if Berkstresser is there, Mauk could possibly jump him too - there would just be a huge learning curve for a true freshman.

What an idiot. A DUI wouldve been better than a felony. Retarded. Plus, how could Pinkel dismiss a kid with a DUI when he himself wasn't dismissed. If anyone understands second chances, it's Pinkel. But not when it comes to a felony.
frick him. I say get Mauk ready. I'm most excited about Mauk anyhow.

Here's a pretty good possible take from a UGA blog...
quote:...
The real issue here is prep time. Even if Franklin is cleared to play, he’ll only have a month of fall practice to get ready. And Pinkel has to decide how to allocate time to the backups, given Franklin’s shoulder. In short, the passing game playing field for Georgia’s conference opener (given 3 secondary starters for UGA are suspended) has the potential to be leveled more than we might have anticipated.
I.E... Mizzou's advantage with the UGA's secondary suspensions might be negated somewhat by y'alls QB injury & backup QB issues...
A pretty level headed UGA blog for Mizzou fans to kep an eye on leading up to our game...

We had problems with our last KC QB too, right? "Cocaine" Blaine Dalton? Only when he was arrested he had a mobile pharmacy of Rx drugs in his car along with a few illegal ones
I had been wondering what happened to that kid recently

Come talk to us when ur Senior starting qb Breaks a marines face in a bar fight right before ur opening game against a top 5 opponent on the road. That's how we roll in the SEC

That's a D1 player? He looks soft and weak and well white so he's slow and unathletic as well
