I also like the idea of expanding West. Kansas & Kansas State would be a big boost in Basketball but not as much of a threat in Football to make the conference unbearable. I'm sure Mizzou and aTm would be happy to have them

Mizzou may feel differently, but I don't think many Aggies feel any real connection to any old Big 8 teams.

Personally I'd rather the SEC expand East, but if we have to go West, I'd say OU/KU would be the best pair.

Probably not going to happen. The best solution would have been to add two more teams and divide into 4 pods. Vandy would have been best suited by being in the same division as Kentucky, Tennessee and possibly Virginia Tech. But the ACC "Grant of Rights" has nixed that scenario. So things will probably remain the same for the near future.

If Auburn goes East watch for 2 permanent opponents so Bama can play Auburn and Tenn every year...

I think that would be great if we went to a 9 game schedule.

I don't think either school would leave without their state counterparts so if I had to pick I would take the Kansas schools for Basketball

9 game schedule. Two permanent cross-division rivals for each school.

West ---------- Permanent rivals
Bama --------- Tenn, AU
LSU ---------- UF, Vandy
Ark ----------- Tenn, USC
A&M ----------- UGA, UK
State --------- Vandy,AU
Ole Miss ------ UK, UF
Mizzou -------- UGA, USC

East
Auburn -------- Bama, State
Tenn ---------- Ark, Bama
Florida ------- OM, LSU
Vandy --------- State, LSU
Kentucky ------ A&M, OM
Georgia ------- Mizzou, A&M
S. Carolina ---- Ark, Mizzou

6 division games, 2 inter-division permanent games, 1 inter-division rotating game.

Instead of making the rotating game a home/home style, it could rotate yearly. For example:

Instead of Arkansas's schedules looking like this
@UGA
vs. UGA
@UK
vs. UK
...

it would go like this
@UGA
vs. UK
@UF
vs. Vandy

That way teams wouldn't go so long without playing each other.

Yea I could see that. We didn't play for a long arse time in the beginning. But I don't think the Admins from either school would want to lose that game, especially now that its a home and home.

I'm sure they could figure out a way to keep the IB intact if it means that much to both schools.

move Auburn to the east, put the updykes on 4 year rotation.
Auburn would have better rivalries playing Tennessee and Florida every year

I think having Kansas would add some excitment to basketball season by renewing their rivalry with Mizzou and adding some dominant competition to Kentucky and UF.

If we're talking expansion that gets Auburn to the east where they belong, picking up Western schools gets my vote. I also think the Western schools are a better fit than Duke/UNC and would probably bring about the same number of sets at this point.

There was a theory in another thread that got rid of the divisions completely. Would fix absolutely everything, but, By NCAA rules we could not have a Championship Game without divisions.

It was a creative idea but it wouldn't fix everything even if the NCAA signed off on a Championship game with no divisons.

There would be a possibility of having three undefeated teams in the SEC if you had 14 teams and no divisions. Similarly back when the Big 10 didn't have divisions and didn't have a round robin you could see two or more teams finish a season undefeated or with the same record. Which team ended up being declared the champ for the purposes of a Rose Bowl bid was kind of a sticky issue

True, but I'd gladly give up the iron bowl being an annual event to be in the East.
