There's a lot of Deadwood in the AD she has yet to clear away. We're in wait and see mode.
The administration has a long history of choosing the cheap hire over the good hire.

I do think Mizzou football will improve significantly in the coming years.
Does Drink try to use the portal much or is traditional recruiting more his thing? Not criticizing but he needs to bring in players to help win now instead of slowly building. Most schools won’t allow a coach very many years to produce anymore.
Kentucky did it with Stoops but times have changed.

tailgate scene needs some work though
I’ll agree with this. However, the couple times I’ve been invited to friends tailgates in the high rent parking lots, it’s been pretty good. Wish that improved across the board.

She’s axed three Assistant ADs, at least. Maybe four. I forget my Asst AD math.

That's been a good sign, but some underperforming coach's need to move on as well. If Gates performs well, that may give her more leeway to swing a wider ax.

He's been getting the job done on that front, I think he has another couple seasons of grace to covert that to on the field results.
Drink's recruiting classes:
2022: 15th nationally
2021: 27th
The dark years before him:
2020: 50th
2019: 38th
2018: 43rd
2017: 43rd
2016: 43rd
We'll see if he can keep it up, but a massive improvement from Odom before him.

He's been hitting the portal hard as well, but he's gonna need more onfield success to bring in bigger names.

Why, because the AD’s a woman ?
No, that's cheap. I just haven't seen any indication that she is implementing changes to improve the sorry state of things. It's not on her given this was her first season, but Mizzou had the all-around worst athletic department in the SEC this past season. That is inexcusable and heads should be rolling left and right, not to mention policies should be overhauled massively. On paper, Mizzou should consistently be a mid-tier all-around program in the conference, not dead fricking last.

There's some great tailgating on the Hearnes side of the stadium. The local Indian dealer lays out a great spread.

That DC was a huge set back! Now he found this current one and he is 40 times better than the last one. I do believe Drinkwitz will be much more comfortable this year than last year. Win-Loss should improve this year. I say at least 8 regular season games. This year with a much-improved defense and offense should get some good recruits to flip to play for Drinkwitz and Mizzou. That is why the lack of commitments this year at this time of year. I am very happy so far with the coaching staff and with most players on the team. Still got ways to go but at least it shall improve when team starts playing much better this Fall. That is why I like that most experts don't know what this team will be like this Fall.

You have to remember, college football predates the pros in the South. Not until 1960 or so did they get a big four team. Compare that to Missouri, really St. Louis, which has had pro sports since the end of the Civil War.

I don’t know where you’re referring to, but I find this derogatory.
You are permanently disbarred from the do not harm list.

I was stationed in Pennsylvania, that state loves them some college football. Same with Ohio, same with Iowa, same with Michigan.
Posted on 7/16/22 at 7:21 am to AgSGT
But, Iowa excluded, they’re exceptions. There’s always an exception(s) to every rule. States that have a long and decorated history at the pro level will favor that over college.
