With all of the talk of an impending replacement of the HC at LSU, I wonder how State fans feel about Leach. Of course he's quirky and a great personality, but you fired Moorehead for (8-5) & (6-7) meanwhile Leach's record is (4-7) & currently (3-2). Is he performing at, above, or below expectations? What should his record be in order to go into year three with job security?

LSU with the pirate would be scary. Dude would have by far the most talent he's ever had.

If you ask 10 different State fans, you may get 10 different answers. I’m a huge fan and think he has us headed in the right direction. We’ve already made massive strides since last year, and even more since week 1. I’ve seen a few things on twitter.com from Texas Tech and Washington State people saying it usually takes between 2-3 years for it to start clicking.

It's not about record, it's about feel
Morehead was fired for his starting QB getting his jaw broken by one of his defensive players. No discipline, no appeal to fans.
Feeling like a State guy is more important than necessarily being the best. State will never be the best in football, so it's more important to just fit in.
Winning is for baseball.

Leach has shown promise and the ability to pull good recruits. Every game with Moorhead was worse than the last

We were on the cusp of tanking under Moorhead. On paper his records don't look that bad, But when you consider the context, it was teetering on the verge of disaster. State had no business losing 5 games with the roster it had in 2018, it's for sure one of the two or three most disappointing seasons in school history. 2019 was a nightmare off the field, and not much better on it. Moorhead had to go, he had totally lost the fanbase and might have gone 0-10 or 1-9 in the COVID year last season had it been allowed to continue.
I am fine with Leach's trajectory at the moment. You kinda know what you are getting with this guy. He is going to infuriate you with some stupid losses but then find some surprise wins here and there, and that's exactly how it has played out so far. Last season was essentially a throw-away, the roster was in major transition and State was playing multiple conference games with fewer than 50 scholarship players. They have shown clear improvement so far this season, both statistically and based on the eye test.
As long as he gets to 6-6 this season I don't foresee any hot seat talk going into next year. 5-7 might cause the seat to get a little warm, any worse than that and it obviously would be pretty hot, but that would require a loss to either Vandy or Tennessee State. If Leach follows his pattern from Tech and Wazzu or a similar pattern to what Mullen did at State, he will be in Starkville until he's ready to retire.

hes got to oust joe's mentally weak kids. that takes time. we are an EXTREMELY young team. you hear that all the time, but ive never seen a more inexperience team. he will be fine. its a ball control and time management offense when its rush 3 drop 8 and you can see improvement from last year. its frustrating, but the improvement is there.
