What is it with MSU vs the two Kentucky schools?
MSU always faces Louisville in the post season of every sport.
We are already rivals with KrogerU.
Mississippi and Kentucky aren’t even that close.

I would hate to have a #2 Louisville in our regional. That said, I want revenge, and they recently got swept on the road vs Clemson. Dudy Noble would be a great advantage.

I was being facetious, but in all seriousness, the only thing that more attractive about Ole Miss than Louisville is fan support and facilities.

When cross-div rivals were chosen back in the day, Ole Miss got Vandy and State got UK.

This is a bit of an understatement, Louisville baseball didn't even start charging admission until 2018

I had buddies that were pissed when they started charging. And it's still way cheaper than any SEC game unless it's Kentucky

State has always played Kentucky - virtually every year prior to the "permanent cross division rivalry" thing.
Same for Ole Miss and Vandy.
So it wasn't for anything as sinister as you suggest.
I mean, Mizzou has Arkansas. What's your comment on that?
