now allowing fans to let their tailgating continue inside the stadium with new seats that allow them to bring in coolers. Each Balcony will also have electrical outlets. Want to bring your own private refrigerator to keep your drinks cold for those warmer early-season games? Done.

Every stadium should BYOB.

Also, every stadium should make it affordable for the average Joe to attend a game with his kids.

It's insane what it cost to go to a game. All the corporations have gobbled up the season tickets and you look around, 90% are only there because they were gifted tickets and sit on their phones the entire time.

They actually look pretty cool. I was really worried we were going to see a final product like Ole Miss had a few years ago with the tents. SHould make for a fun experience assuming no one falls off of the back balconies.

Always have to have a separate set of rules for poor, little MS State.

Can you imagine a stadium that seats +100k and allowed artificial noisemakers?

I agree. They took a previously unused/undesirable set of seats that typically sat empty for every game but sellouts and turned them into premium seating. win win

If they allowed grills, it'd be even better. I know why they can't, though.

I think this is a great move by State.

You should see what it costs now to tailgate in "premium" locations.

That same scenario is occurring at Alabama — the prime spaces have been sold to corporations that have huge footprints, with catered food (or cooked onsite), open bars, and unbelievable amenities.

It's great, but it's pushing the diehards further away, which means unless you pony up tens-of-thousands of dollars every season, you have to park in the North 40 and bring all of your stuff in at designated times, follow stricter and stricter rules so as not to offend the corporate gatherings, etc.

We've been doing it for well over a decade, and it's gotten progressively worse each year. Some groups around us have given up entirely, because it's just not worth the cost, added hassle, or dealing with the fun-police anymore.

ETA: Looked it up, and one of the reserved packages on The Quad for a full season costs $17,920. That base price does not include food, and each item you add, like an extra table, canopy, chair, etc. costs additional per game.

The large corporate ones I mentioned aren't listed, but cost 2-3 times that amount per season, based on people I've chatted with.

Really cool for State fans. For their sake, I hope there isn't a bad batch of fans that take advantage of the rules and ruins it for everyone

Sad thing is the schools don't really care as long as the money is still being generated. Especially now that schools (and fans) have to pay to keep their players on their team. Affordability is down the list of concerns

BTW, did you see where Alabama's concessionaire, Levy Premium Food Service LP, recently applied for a liquor license with the city of Tuscaloosa? Could be approved by next week, with alcohol available this season in BD. Byrne doing work $$

100%.

Everything they change ultimately affects the "serious" fans the most, which are all going to get tired of it at some point.

I'm convinced that everyone in these industries knows that an eventual crash in attendance is coming, and are trying to money-grab while they still can.

who says what's affordable? Schools set a price for tickets, and people buy 100% of them, often with a waiting list of more people that want to go than you ahve tickets available. Why should they lower the ticket cost so billy ray in dublin can go to the game?
