The Florida and Georgia games were more important. Winning either would have won Dooley a lot more support and would have gone a long way in terms of job security. If Tennessee won either game, they're still in the East race and the public perception of the program would have been greatly improved. However, the team fell apart against Florida and failed to capitalize against Georgia. As a result, Dooley's support is dwindling, and rightfully so.

Barring a win against Alabama or at South Carolina, a loss in Starkville means Tennessee will have a new coach next year. We'll soon see if he's up to the task.

I believe State is looking at this as a must win to because we need this win to earn respect among the league and if we win saturday we are looking at finishing the season with 9 wins as well.

you going to make the trip to starkville this weekend?

Bad matchup for UT imo. I think MSU takes you to the woodshed.

agreed big game for DD and this is obvious, alos big for Mullen, at some point if he cannot win a game like this I think he is more likely to move on, and Dooley's biggest isssue now IMO if UF is doing well so Muschamp way off hotseat, I really think DD can win big at UT but afraid he will not get the chance to show it...

Thats not a must win. If Dooley loses, he's fired, thats a must win. If you lose you can still upset A&m or LSU and that would earn you respect and both are possible.

It's a must win for us to continue our march towards the BCSNCG.

He's favored. Has mullen lost a game he's been favored in? The games he's got to learn to win are the ones he's not favored in. He has gotten State to the point of beating the teams they should beat.

I don't understand why UTk and Auburn fans want to see their respective coaches fired. They are both men of upstanding morals and character, with young teams. Give them 2 or 3 more years at least.

sort of curious on this. Let's say for the sake of argument, that you lose the next 3 but then close the season by winning your last 4 - something that is entirely possible.

Does this not build momentum and make it harder to fire Dooley? Seems it's harder to can a coach that has won 4 straight and brought you to a bowl game after a bad start. It's entirely schedule, but it's still going to be the perception

He lost on the plains last year at the goal line vs Auburn. The Dogs were a 5.5pt favorite on the road in 2011.

He lost at Auburn last year. That is the only one he has lost where we were favored.

West brachycelaphic mutts, you must lose to the Vols for the benefit of the rest of the league. We are all counting on you catfish farming fellers.
