True but I've also noticed the Tennessee defense struggles on third and 4th downs once again like their usual selves prior to last year. We definitely have more than just a puncher's chance in this.

The Tennessee oline is very bad at false starts and holding penalties under Heupel and this year is no different. You will see more false starts from Tennessee this game than any other one so far this year IMO.

Huepel loves to lay eggs each year on the road in games that we’re favored in and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if this is a battle late into the 4th. MSU is improved and our defense is shaky outside of the front 7.

Yep especially in hostile environments like SC in 22.

The matchup no one is talking about:

Miss St CBs versus Tenn WRs.

Our CBs are good but Brazell will likely win his 50/50 balls if they scheme him correctly against our D which I'm sure they will. We saw what they did to UGA 's CBs.

I think Tennessee will be able to run the ball at will unless we sell out completely leaving our guys on islands. Once their running game gets established, our DBs will be forced to play up making everything easier for their wideouts.

I don't think we can stop them on the ground without getting ripped to pieces in the air.

Probably will see plenty of that just hope we don’t beat ourselves .
Never know in these types of games plus we are known for not traveling well.
Can you believe it’s been 13 years since we last played there?

It's a weird dichotomy between East vs West teams. If you look at the meetings of MSU vs GA over the last century you'd probably be surprised how few games were played.

My main concern with Shapen in a Lebby offense is that Lebby needs to run the QB for his running game to be effective and Shapen is so fragile.

You haven’t watched us all year, have you?

I can count on one hand the amount of designed runs Lebby has called for Shapen.

I have no illusions about State winning this game. Great if it happens but we don't have the hogs in the trenches to compete with the upper teams in the SEC yet....but this game will be a good indicator to see just how much State has improved

I'd love to see Shapen do well. He's a local kid from Evangel.

man, losing Whitson to injury in the second game of the season really killed the capability of our defense this year. Whitson would be a huge difference maker in games like this.

Tennessee 's defense has look very suspect against good QBs so far.

That freshman corner filling in for McCoy was why UGA was able to hang with and beat them I noticed. Otherwise Tennessee wins that game by two plus scores.

They are probably even better than we are giving them credit for considering who they have sitting on the bench with injuries.

But right now, Redmond their freshmen corner is the biggest weak link for them.

Whenever UGA needed an answer, they would target that Redmond kid deep every time. I suspect we will be doing the same early on. They get Moi back on the dline so running the ball will be more difficult.

Look at the Florida fan.

The difference is going to be the run game, and we are dog shite at stopping the run. Tenner will gash us and that'll open up the big shots down field.

State is still not playing sound football. We are top 3 most penalized teams in the country. That alone will lose us more than a couple of otherwise easily winnable games, like say, Florida.
