Mike Leach was a Christmas miracle hire for State

As a true Ole Miss fan who graduated from the University of Mississippi in the 90s, I can honestly tell you that I have hated State ever since high school. It became apparent to me that State represented everything I hated about my home state, and I was attracted to women at Ole Miss, so I was Oxford bound. Even when they beat us in the Egg Bowl, I told myself that I would rather suffer a loss once a year than to suffer the loss of being associated with that shithole year round.

Well, the thrill is gone of hatred and every form of malcontent towards State, now that they have hired the one and only Mike Leach. No other man could have bridged that gap but him. Do not let Ole Miss fans fool you, they have all longed for him to be our coach many times over in the past decade, including our last coaching search.

Here is the really strange piece, the only way for me not to still hate State works is with Lane at the helm of Ole Miss. Those two are both a treasure and are friends. They will fight it out in the arena but are both honorable gladiators of the gridiron at the end of the day.

In the NFL the players spend time at the end of each game and enjoy each other’s conversations. I see those two having a good talk at the end of our contests. They are both unique and both geniuses in their own rights. They are the perfect fit for each school.

I can only attribute this to Christmas. I feel like Scrooge with the Christmas spirit. I no longer hate State but see now that we are better together. By having a strong rivalry we both benefit from the national appeal our new HCs coverages. The Egg Bowl just got elevated to a higher level. This will give both schools better appeal to national recruits.

Make no mistake about it. I want to beat State but I do not hate State. It is still the season of Christmas btw. So merry merry Christmas all, at to all State fans, enjoy the ride! Congratulations on hiring a whale of a coach.
