Middle Class Atlanta Kids that aren't that smart

Can't get into UGA, so their parents steer them to Auburn.
Sure they could get great educations at Kennesaw St or Georgia State, even Perimeter College or Gainesville St as a transfer school to get into UGA for graduate classes...
But no, they want the full "college experience" at a big school, even though their kids aren't really smart enough to hack it.
They send their kids to Auburn.
I don't even blame the kids. They are good kids. But the mommies and daddies are spending shitloads of money to an out-of-state school, just over the state line, just to keep up with the Jones'.

I don't remember but I have my name on a plaque at my high school for top ten ACT scores of all time, I was accepted to Georgia Tech and UGA, I didn't have to fall back to Auburn.

I took the ACT almost 30 years ago, I don't remember my score. But there is a plaque at my old high school that recognizes the highest ACT (and SAT, but you didn't ask) scores and I'm on it. That's a fact.

HOPE was definitely a factor in raising admission standards at UGA. I was on HOPE, for what it's worth.
But those that couldn't get into UGA after those standards were raised, there was always Auburn.
