Notre Dame was a beaten up shell of themselves when they went to Miami. It was not the same team that cornholed USC. I think the last three games were more indicative of what Miami really was opposed to the first 10. Those last three games are what happened when their opponents weren't gift wrapping them a bunch of turnovers.
ETA: I hope LSU just obliterates Miami so we don't have to hear about the stupid turnover chain anymore.

A team during one part of the season might not be the same team later in the season.
To start 2015 Arkansas lost to Texas Tech and Toledo. And went on to beat Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mizzou, and LSU.
Its hard to tell what is going to happen in the Miami vs LSU game. Particularly with Coach Yaw Yaw on the sidelines. One half of football they might look like they are going to challenge for the West, the next they look like they are praying they manage to become bowl eligible.
