A far cry from $200k in the offering plate so I don't think much will come of it, especially given it was almost a decade ago.

We paid him up front and . . . he recruited everybody else to come and sign. He’d go into the dorm, grab a couple guys—$20, $30, $40, depending on who the player was—and they’d all come sign 40 team items."

Honestly, I'm not too concerned given that it happened 8 years ago. I mean, why sit on this for that long?

From the article:
This part checks out so the story might be legit.

If I had to guess someone wanted a to create some notoriety with no real consequence.
I imagine the statute of limitations on something like this has expired.

False. They are all going away for a long time.

This is weak sauce SI. "Might have" seriously TMZ and the enquirer are embarrassed for you.

Says Johnson: "I never got paid. I don’t know [Panezich]." Woodson could not be reached for comment.
So basically 2 sleazy autograph dealers who hung outside of players' dorms...against the word of the players...9 years later...for a couple hundred bucks.

Sports Illustrated is digging this up 8 years after the fact? Sure, this is "illegal" but come on.
Nothing to see here.

I will admit the Fluker stuff from a couple years ago scared the shite out of me.

Who cares? It's not like somebody caught them buying chargers for players. That would actually be something to be a little upset about. I don't give a frick about college kids working around the system to get money as long as the school wasn't complicit in it.
