I really don’t understand why this story is getting so much attention, probably because we suck and are easy to make fun of but literally every team does this
He had the chance to sign on early signing day but didn’t.
Trust me there are way easier things to make fun of Tennessee for.

"Tennessee, at this point in its ridiculous and obnoxious tragedy, is dragging its entire conference down into the mud with it."
Hyberbole much? Do any of the other 13 members of the SEC feel like we are being dragged through the mud with orange nub? I don't. Just makes me want some McDonalds is all.

Fulmer karma. Was 1998 worth it?

To be fair this is like saying you predict the sun will rise in the East tomorrow morning. I mean yes you're correct, but that's also true on literally every other day as well.

and for Tennessee that’s the cold reality of being the winner of National Signing Day’s award for worst run football program in the country.
...and they still have the 3rd ranked recruiting class in the SEC East, 3 spots behind Florida.

Maybe Heupel went there thinking it was the TV show?

Post-Diet Bounceback Weight is pretty bad though. See Also: Heupel, Josh

Like 14 in a row? Probably going to 20?

Heupel is losing the battle of public opinion quickly. Heupel didn't communicate with his players when he left Orlando, he didn't tell Roc himself that he was pulling the scholarship less than 24 hours before signing day and his coach said that he tried to call the coaching staff at Tennessee and get their thinking on this decision and Heupel refused to discuss it with him.
Pruitt got ripped time and again for the unfortunate way he has of putting things at times. Heupel seems to be above the discussion altogether. Neither one is a compliment on how you build relationships and master public relations.

Exactly. UT being able to pull in the 16th ranked class in the nation is a minor miracle with all the bad press. This kid signing w/ Memphis says he might not have been that good.

16th for now. How many are already seeking emancipation before they even set foot on campus?

Given their situation, Tennessee had an outstanding signing day.
Biggest loser today in the SEC had to be Auburn. 30th. Ugh. Auburn wishes they had Tennessee's signing day.

When Auburn signs Dylan Brooks the roles will be reversed. Probably won’t count in the final recruiting standings but this kid will be in Auburn next year.
“Handley linebacker/defensive end Dylan Brooks confirmed to AL.com late Tuesday night that he has requested his release from the National Letter of Intent he signed with Tennessee.“
Not a great year for Auburn but this staff came in late without many options left in the talent pool.
