State to the final 4

In all seriousness that’s a good boost to our RPI

RPI sits at 16 right now. Warren Nolan projected record is 27-4 (14-4) and tied for first in the SEC.

Don’t think we will get that many wins but it’s exciting to have a potential tournament team.

The better SEC programs have been testing themselves early this season. Which is smart. This is going to be a gang fight of an SEC schedule. If you have any flaws you need to work on you damn sure don't want to discover them once conference play starts because you won't have many easy games.

There are multiple SEC teams (and soon to be SEC teams) that could make a deep run in the tournament and that have the talent to win it all if they get hot at the right time.

No joke, State's first 8 SEC games:

Bama
@ UT

OM
@ UGA
@ Auburn
UT

Florida
@ Bama

could very realistically start 3-5 or 2-6 and finish 12-6

If State is 4-4 after their first 8, they will be a top four seed in the tourney

We've got a great team. We're on pace for a Tournament berth which is ahead of where I'd have expected.

Loved every second of it

Glad to see Shaka's program get its feet under themselves. Still rooting for the guy.

That is a nasty opening stretch and you still have Arkansas lurking down the road. Bama twice, UT twice, with Auburn thrown in... that is a stern test right out of the chute there.

I'll say what another poster has said, with a slight downgrade, if y'all go 4-4 through that stretch pencil in an Elite 8 appearance.

I say that because luck and location plays such a key role in the tournament. You can have a great team forced to play a "neutral" site game that is a brisk walk away from your opponent's campus.

Obviously some teams will flame out along the way... but there are 6 teams in the SEC that could make the Final Four if they stay healthy and get hot down the home stretch. Possibly more if someone has a break through season.

He'll make a fine coach here if our current coach doesn't work out.
