He's been selective in jobs he's truly sought. UGA & Miami were two he went after, but Kirby and Richt were locks to get those. Despite the fact that he's well set for next season at MSU, I think he just might make a move to either UT or ATM.

And there is always the thing where the agent (Sexton is the king of this) floats his name in order to get a raise so I am sure that has happened some too. I agree though, I believe he will make the jump within a few years at most.

He would do very well at UT or aTm.

Wait. How about we go back actual 5 years.....not a fictious 2018. LSU 3 of 5 and 18 of 20.

Can you coonasses make a final determination on exactly how far back is relevant, seems you vacillate quite a bit on this depending on which is more useful.

You haven't followed this game very long, have you? Our 5-7 season last year had very little to do with Dan on the field. However, it had almost everything to do with a coaching blunder made by Dan, off the field.

What was the blunder?

Mullen is too terrible for any other program to take while simultaneously being too good not be taken by every other program. His body thetan levels are so high, he will soon become an ethereal being composed entirely of pure thetan.

This thread was mostly a civil football discussion. Well done Rant, I enjoyed it.

Peter Sirmon.

Just look up defensive numbers for MSU and Louisville, last year vs this year

100% correct. We lost USA, BYU, Kentucky, and Arky strictly due to poor defensive performance. I'd say all but Arky would have been sure wins with Grantham.

It really is incredible how bad Peter Sirmon is. I can’t imagine he will be a coach at this level for very much longer.

What is better was that Louisville thought they were trade raping us... It was comical then, but it's really comical now.

Art Briles, Petrino, Peterson, Franklin at Vandy are some guys I would compare his success to.

Franklin at Vandy and Petrino are fair comparisons.

I think Briles and Peterson have been easily more impressive at this point of their careers. Again, Dan Mullen is a great coach, he's just not top 5, and I don't really know how someone could put him above Meyer, Dabo, Saban, Peterson, or Patterson at this point.

I know he has less talent, but part of coaching includes recruiting. Do I think he'd be scary at a place like UF or UT? Absolutely. I just want to see a little bit more before I put him in my top 5 and I think that's pretty dang understandable.

He wore shorts against South Alabama last season and lost. In addition, he’s 2-16 in ranked matchups in his illustrious MSU career — which ranks dead last in the AP poll era for any coach.

Hell yeah, he’s top 5. Maybe top 3.

why is he still at State if he is such a hot commodity? Lots of top notch jobs have popped up the past few years and he is still in Starkville. I think he is a solid coach but I wouldn't say top 5 or even top 10 coach.

About half that list doesn't belong in the top 10.

Urban Meyer
Rich Rodriguez
David Shaw
Dan Mullen
Bobby Petrino
Jim Harbaugh
Lane Kiffin

Yeah....you're right I could only come up with 13 better than him off the top of my head.

You have to be one of the only people in the world not in Rich Rod’s family that thinks he is a better coach than Peterson.
