I noticed this a few years back and made a thread about it. 2 years later, it is still going on. Is it something about Mainieri's gameplan? Do yall just not get up? The other team's super bowl? All of the above?

Damn you put a lot of work into this.

This happens to most of us losing mid-week games, to be honest.
The small teams are also throwing out their ace for these games while the bigger teams are throwing out their 4th and 5th guy.
It doesn't effect the seeding very much if you lose a few.

many of the players probably feel "snubbed" by LSU because they were not recruited by LSU, and they put more effort in the game than LSU does.
Nicholls starter last night (who grew up across the river from LSU)
innings 5.1
hits 2
ER 1
walks 4
SO 7
Nicholls starter in previous appearance
innings 2.2
hits 5
ER 3
walks 1
SO 1
Oh and going into last night Nicholls was 0-3 with losses to juggernauts like Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and George Washington.

This early in the year, we’re still experimenting and have players in new spots which really showed last night. The team just didn’t show up mentally at all.

LSU just doesn't seem interested to win midweek games as much as it frustrates me.

very frustrating to watch. I don't really even bother anymore going to midweek games because I have better things to do than go watch LSU make errors and only get score 2 runs against Nicholls.

Also, team have figured us out. You put a lefty out there that’s topping out at 84-85 and we will make him look like an all-timer.

The ace thing happens on occasion, but in general, they don't have that large of an impact. It just seems like its happening more often for Lsu even though they've had such good teams.
I'll look at UF to compare.
2020 - none
2019 - S Florida, N Florida, UCF (top 50 RPI), FGCU, FAU (40+ win team). - A very down year for the Gators.
2018 - UCF (2x-top 50 RPI), Jax (40+ wins, top 25 RPI)
2017 - Jax (okay team), UCF (40 wins, top 30 RPI), FGCU (43 wins, top 40 RPI), S Florida (42 wins, top 25 RPI)
It's not too dissimilar in the number of losses, but the difference is the quality of the opponent. These are cupcake sub .500, 100+ RPI teams.

Paul uses midweek games to tinker with lineups a whole lot.
It happens, like you said, every damn year. We'll lose to Northwest Louisiana Technical College on Wednesday then take 2/3 from Arkansas that weekend.
Bizarre.

This is something you can put the house on.

And swinging at 3-0 and 3-1 counts at their eyes and fouling out multiple times a game

For the record I really like Eddie Smith but the lineup yesterday was 4 True Freshmen, 2 Sophomores, 1 JUCO all basically starting their first road game. They're going to take lumps which I 100% expected through February and March.

No idea why, but even in 2009 when they last won the CWS, there were 3 mid-week losses to in-state teams:
ULL
Tulane
Nichols State
Even lost a home series to Illinois & Tennessee (the 2nd-to-last-place SEC team)

Farmer,
If you wanted to take it back further. Skip Bertman was notorious for losing midweek games. It didn't seem to hurt his teams too much.

We don’t have deep pitching and have zero hitting, stringy 150lb recruits playing every position, throwing 84 mph CHEESE and sucking it up. Pawl doesn’t have it anymore and if you try to go over to the rant and say that their ignorant group think will throw 3 years ago at you and say one pitcher (hill) who won’t play a whole season is throwing GAS!

Ah have you watched any of the 5 games LSU has played this year? Hell have you just looked at the roster?

Lmao 4-2 with losses to Nichols and Indiana, ppl already bitching about the weekend starters. But no one cares about midweek tho right?
Just go back to jerking pawl off on the rant and enjoy mediocrity from the best baseball program in the sec.
