If Coach K or Roy were on tape talking about offers? They are definitely more "untouchable" but it would be a big story. I don't think they would ever get caught like that though.

The thing is.. it's not like the NCAA hasn't gone after powerhouses before. Think So. Cal, PSU, and 'Bama in football and UK in basketball (as LSU fans are keen to point out).
Do I think it's total BS that UNC got off the hook? Yes I do. But I don't think it has to do with the NCAA protecting blue bloods as much as it has to do with the very capricious nature of the NCAA and its punishments. There is no rhyme or reason, maybe they hammer you maybe they don't. And that in of itself is fricked up.

It would be a much, much bigger story if they were explicitly caught on tape talking details about an offer for a recruit.
However, I think the Dickie V types "talking point" would be a little "shame on them" and then much more about having to clean the game up all around.

The biggest part of this story is Wade openly and casually discussing this stuff on the phone and that it was taped.
That just doesn't happen very much anymore. If anybody else at a program that was even semi relevant had this happen the same thing would be happening. If it was the big boys the world would be exploding.

Once again, that was a very different situation. UNC was providing those fake classes to students and athletes. Very scummy but it was what saved them from punishment. They were just being a shitty university.

They exploited a loophole. Every situation is different and every NCAA punishment is different. There is no consistency.
