In 2004, all of these people were employed by LSU:

Nick Saban
Jimbo Fisher
Kirby Smart
Will Muschamp
Dan Radakovich (Clemson AD)
Scott Woodward (Texas A&M AD)
Mark Emmert (NCAA President)

9-3 -year 5 of Saban at LSU.
Barely beat Oregon State because their kicker had worst night in kicking history.
Barely beat Troy by 4 pts at home.
Got beat by 30 points by Georgia.
Beat by Auburn.
Lost bowl game to Iowa .

1/2 of those have won a national championship as a head coach.
Kirby is 2 games away from having one as well.
It likely was the best

Shoulda lost to Oregon State but we put a voodoo hex on their kicker.

That was a good Auburn team that year. Too bad the CFP didn't exist then.

Kind of a shame for LSU. Saban was just getting that name brand status and rolling in those consecutive top recruiting classes. He never saw them mature, nor the completion of his brainchild football operations center. One by one those folks left and here we are now. They set up a great foundation, though. Hopefully it isn't eroded by the current administration.

So you're saying there's some kind of CFB Illumanati?

What makes Dan Radakovich a great AD? For inheriting the football program that Terry Don Phillips and Dabo built?

He has a great reputation as a "CFO" for athletic programs.

9-3. Same as Ed O team this year.

Maybe coaching isn't the issue at LSU. Perhaps LSU has too high of expectations

I forgot about that. Troy had the lead late in the 4th quarter over the defending national champs with the "best staff in history" per the OP.

You'd think we'd have learned by now not to schedule Troy for Homecoming.

Schedule Auburn instead. They haven't beaten us in Baton Rouge this century.
