I’m mostly looking forward to seeing how the Mississippi State offense adapts to Leach’s new offense. Their youth in the secondary could be a problem, provided LSU’s passing attack is even slightly as potent this year.

If we lose, it’ll absolutely be a secondary issue.

If we lose, it’ll be because the offense didn’t score enough. We know the secondary is going to be mediocre at best. If we win, it’ll be because we got up early and often and LSU has a costly turnover. That’s the only way I see a possible W.

I think we’ll hold LSU to some field goals throughout the game. We’ll manage to score once in the first half to keep the game somewhat close, and 2 garbage time TDs that covers +16.5.

37-21 LSU

I just cant help but think that theres no way the state DBS can consistently guard our recievers and even our tight end.hell lsu, without a doubt ,is faster on offense then we were last year . If the QB for lsu plays well they could be in for a long day .

We have 3 backs that have had promising moments last year too. State runs a 3-3-5 d ,they could potentially get the ball run down there throats in that formation.

Anyway you want to look at it ,the state d will get shredded. They will just try to keep up with our scoring cuz they wont stop us that often

Itll be that or, if were not really clicking through the air ,the 335 defense getting the ball ran down there throats and wearing them out

Arnett led the country in rushing yards allowed in that formation.

It’s not about the formation it’s about how they are lined up. The formation just refers to the personnel on the field.

Arnett prefers speed over size so he likes to get an extra db out there. They just gotta wrap up.

Didn't he also lead the nation in fewest points allowed?

Yeah, I don’t get that talking point from LSU fans. The weakness in 3-3-5 is tackling on the outside. If you can’t tackle in the 3-3-5, you’re looking at a broken tackle and a cloud of dust to the end zone.

Wait wait wait you forgot about starting safety Londyn Craft!!!

Londyn (cool name) is a 6'0" 200lb walk on Redshirt sophomore with one career tackle against Arkansas in 2019.

I am personally very worried about how Terrace Marshall, Jr., Arik Gilbert, and Chris Curry are going to play against such stout protection at the safety position.

no no no, everybody knows the 3-3-5 means only 6 in the box at all times, and the Air Raid means 4 verts every play.***

Serious question, how did the secondary get to where it currently is?

That actually excites me quite a bit. The coaches are not playing favorites and are clearly rewarding a guy who worked his arse off during camp. Good to see.

There were plenty of guys like him at Washington State and Texas Tech that became amazing players.

Emphasizing effort and improvement, that's how Leach does his job. He doesn't give a shite if somebody started last year or is a 4 star player or what. He will play the guy that busts his arse and plays the best during practice. No lollygagging and coasting allowed.

Youth mostly, but also not really great recruiting there in the last couple years (before this most recent class). That and a particular soft would-be starter transferring because the coaches didn’t wanna be their friends anymore.
